Going on vacation, where should I stop?

I'm going on vacation in a week from New Jersey, west to chicago, then south along the mississippi river and back diagnally to New Jersey. What would be worth a visit. I know I'll probably visit the sears tower. We will be camping and staying at a hotel. Need some ideas for great points of intrest... I have AAA books from my neighbor, but too many so It will be hard to go though that and probably won't in time. Any 911 shows?

hmmm wonder how many reponses I'll get, doesn't seem like the off topic forum gets much traffic...

Hello

Not too many suggestions so far, huh? I read your post and it sent me off on a daydream of what I would do in a 911 with a couple of sleeping bags. Well, I'm really not much on camping, so maybe a 911 and a small budget for not-too-luxuriant hotels. Depending on how far south you follow the Mississippi, a diagonal return might take you into N. Georgia and western N. Carolina. Very nice national forests there to camp in, and lots of two-lane twisty roads connecting them all. Have fun!

If you can make NC, do the Biltmore Estate in Ashville. The Blue ridge Mountains are very nice. I would love to go to the Smithsonian, I don't care about the heat. You'd be inside all day.

Yea, well I'm not taking the 911, which is why I couldn't post this in the 911 Forum. I'm taking my dad's Nissan Pathfinder so It's just going to be us two, plenty of room for camping equipment. The 911 Isn't quite ready for a long trip like that, not even something short because of quick idle I didn't have much time to look into. Right now I'm trying to get myself insured as a driver under my dad's car, and my dad has other things he's working on too. Definetly this Friday I'll work on the Porsche. Once the engines running well, I'll see if I can get a body shop to replace the rear floorpan, and remove 3 dents on the body, or I might just buy a whole new fender because it might be cheaper than repairing the current one. Anyways the floor pan doesn't seem to serious because there isn't any rust on the bottom, It seems to have rotted from the inside due to the leaky targa top, which I'll probably throw 1000 dollars at and have it perfectly restored along with the leather around the steering wheel. Anyways, enough of the 911 talk, I was looking for a Preston Tucker museum because he's a guy that intrests me, but I haven't found anything good.
