Rush
Saw the movie RUSH tonight by Ron Howard and it's excellent!
I really enjoyed it and highly recommend it. Very well done. Took me back to the late seventies a little when I was reading about F1 in Road&Track. It was a prescreening a friend had tickets too. It opens everywhere on Friday. |
Thanks for the "thumbs up" review! I'm really looking forward to this movie!

Got my tix for tonite!
|
It is on our list to see. We will wait a few weeks for the rush to see Rush dies down.
|
I'm seeing it this weekend.
|
Saw it last week and I agree - it is a great film.
|
plans are to go see this tomorrow at the Arclight.
Really looking forward to it! |
That is one I would pay to see in a theater. The guy they got to play Mr Hunt looks so much like him.
|
|
My 10 year old son is really disappointed this is a R rated movie. Is it that bad? He really wants to see it.

There is some bad language, some nudity. And the crash is very realistic with graphic scenes of the hospital treatment after. There is no part I would shay would make him jump out of the seat, but I felt the pain during the crash - as someone that does race, that scene is my worst nightmare... |
Going tonight. I can not remember being this excited to see a movie in a long time.
|
Taking my two girls to it tonight...can't wait.
|
I've had a surprise date night planned for hubby since I heard about this one!! So glad you all are giving good reviews!!

/\/\/\+1...great movie...going again w/ the PCA crowd Mon. nite.
|
Just saw it...excellent, but LOUD!
I read a recent review with Ron Howard about the film and he stated that he could not waste million dollar race cars on the crash scenes so they are all CGI. Very well done. By the way when asked of Ron, "do you drive exotic sports cars yourself"? His response was, "no, actually we have a Volvo and Suburban"! The racing will go down as some of the best on the big screen. James Hunt is apply played as a sex loving wild man. Not for kids........lots of nude scenes. :) |
Gosh guys I saw it last night and was underwhelmed. However, I would see it again. Perhaps I had very high expectations. YMMV
|
Going to see it tomorrow.
I'm so glad I got to see the real thing back in the 70s and early 80s! Living in SoCal back then, Long Beach hosted Formula 1 from '76 to '83. Great times! |
Saw it tonight and thought it was great.
The way they wove the actual footage in was a neat touch. |
We go see it Sunday at the local iPic. Stoked!
|
Rush
Just saw it today. A good film, sort of like a documentary. It could have used more actual racing scenes in my opinion. I know the critics love Hemsworth as Hunt but I think Bruhl stole the show as Lauda. DP
|
Saw it today. A good movie, but not a great movie.
|
Great casting, with a story line just about the same level as a made for TV show. However I can see the actor playing Hunt becoming the next James Bond.......There is an excellent youtube vid about an hour long on Hunt vs Lauda for those that would find this subject of interest...

My wife and I saw it tonight with another couple at the Alamo Draft House. I thought it was excellent, both both women raved about it. A win/win all around.
|
I wasn't impressed. Would see it again on DVD.

Saw it last night, my wife and I both really enjoyed it, but was kind of surprised how empty the theater was for an 8PM Saturday night show. Only about 25 people.
Here is a good summary of the plot vs the actual story: Rush Vs. Real Life: Where Fact Meets Fiction | Features | Empire |

My wife thought Senna was a far better movie (as do I). But a good effort for mainstream Hollywood. Theater was pretty full at the 10pm show. The 8pm show was pretty much sold out except for the front rows. |
Saw it last night with wife and 18 y.o. daughter. They just loved the Hunt actor.
I didn't like the sub titles. Did anyone see any goofs? I think I saw one but want to see if anyone else saw any before I say mine. |
There may be some pointed to here...
Very enjoyable movie for us anyway. BBC Radio 5 live - Double Take, Niki Lauda gives his verdict on Ron Howard's film Rush Rush Vs. Real Life: Where Fact Meets Fiction | Features | Empire 10 Things You Need to Know About James Hunt Before Seeing Rush James Hunt - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia |

As far as the R rating, there were lots of nipples and heavy breathing but not much more than that. I felt the blood was nothing compared to the video games and movies out there. The thing I would be concerned about with the kiddos would be the extensive foul language. But it was mostly used well, to excellent effect. |
Was that a 911 safety car in the background of the crash scene?

Interesting story about that very car in Excellence a few issues ago. |
Saw the film yesterday afternoon. Wow! Just wonderful. Very well done. Intercutting clips of the real people at the end is a stroke of genius. So is the use of comments from Lauda. Have to say, the recreation of the crash scene is one of the most horrific things I've ever seen. As someone else mentioned, it does feel a bit like a documentary. Call it a docudrama. We liked it. A lot.
|
Disappointed in the CGI action scenes. Typical cheesy racing from Hollywood, IMHO. I liked learning the story between the two racers, that was about it.
|
loved it. i loved that most sports movies, need a bad guy. a real evil mo-fo to make you hate him, for there to be drama. both luada and hunt could have been made into a "bad guy" pretty easily, but they weren't. and it was still very dramatic.
its not a racing movie though IMO, its a movie about how passion manifests differently in people, and what a rivalry is actually about. very good movie. |
^Agree.
They really didn't make a villain out of either one of them. Just competitors. |
Finally saw it, last night.
Thought it was great. The noise. the camera work. amazing. |
