Need to replace my weekend travel bag

I've had a cheap bag for years that I use for weekend travel. Finding one I like is harder than finding the right woman. I like canvas and leather, although all leather is fine. I'm looking for one like this in canvas and leather. This one is nice, but $500 is pretty damn steep. The one I have now I probably paid less than $50 for. But I know quality costs more. So what are you using?

Just go get the cheap pleather one from HF.

We always use them as overnight bags when going on trips in the cranes. Something about shoving a bag in a tool box is hard on it...

In all seriousness. I have two bags that I carry primarily. Both are Osprey, just by accident.

For an overnight or weekend where I just need jeans or shorts I carry this little Transporter 30 that was a freebie from Backwoods a few years ago. Mine is red. I can get everything I need for a weekend in it, its got a nice strap and the compression straps will hold a pair of sandals on the outside of the bag.

They make the same bag in a 46 that might be just the ticket for you.

Osprey stuff is seriously well built, and they have a lifetime no excuses warranty. Break it for any reason and they'll fix or replace. I had two screws rattle out of my roller bag and all I had to do was send them a message on the website and they mailed the screws.

My week trip bag is a roller similar to this.

They don't make the one I have anymore, but also and excellent bag. Mine has been on numerous flights, and beat in and out of vehicles almost weekly for the last year and still looks like new.

I've been using a motorcycle tail bag I purchased from Chase Harper. Originally I used it on my bike, but found it to be a good size for weekend-length trips. It's their "supersport tail trunk" I think. It was about $55-60 on sale. And Chase Harper supposedly has a lifetime guarantee on it (though I've never needed to test that out). The integrated bungees on the bottom aren't necessary for non-bike travel, but otherwise it's worked well for me. I'm too cheap to actually buy a nice bag, like the one you have pictured in the OP.

Duffle Bag-Small | Filson

Picked this one up this spring. Super burly canvas and no metal buttons on the bottom to scratch whatever it's thrown upon. Made in USAville.

I have one of these...love it. Made of recycled sail cloth which is incredibly tough stuff. Probably only appeals to sailors and nautical types, but I think they are cool.

For a bag built like the OP is wanting I'd at least give Cabelas a look. My dad has some of their house brand luggage and it seems to be well made. -J
