My son is coming home...

for the first time since Basic and AIT school. He is now a Bradley Fighting Vehicle maintainer. He will be reporting to Ft. Bliss 1st Armored Division "Old Ironsides".
He joined the Army earlier this year, My Son joined the United States Army!! , He has definitely grown in the few short months he has been in.
I can't wait to pick him up from the airport today!!!!
Pic from this morning.

His sister, Grace is very excited as well.

I remember that day when mine came home after AIT. What a huge change. I can celebrate with you, know the feeling. Congrats to you and thank him for his service from me.

Congrats! Spend time together.

El Paso is not such a bad place. He can have some very, very nice boots made there. He should also check out the areas north of Lordsburg and spend some time in the caverns and national forest nearby.

In the AF they sent me everywhere in the most expedient transportation available: Grayhound or Trailways or back of a C-130 in cargo netting. Good times.

Congratulations Sandy, you have every right to be proud! I'm sure you'll notice a big change now that he has become a soldier. Enjoy your time together, both you and he deserve it!

Fantastic!

He'll be a very different person, I suspect only in the best ways.

What an impressive looking young man. Should that all our sons be men such as yours.

My oldest (and favorite, but of course I would never have favorites) nephew is in the 10th Mountain Division as a cavalry scout. We have a deal that started after he completed Basic. Every time he heads to a combat zone, we bring him to the fanciest steakhouse in Minneapolis and buy him a piece of meat as big as his head. (The first time we did it he got a lobster that was substantially larger than his head, but same idea.) And every time he returns from a combat zone and presents his more-or-less intact body for review and approval, we bring him back to Manny's for another piece of meat as big as his head.

Those occasions are some of the highlights of my year. Hope you have similar rituals with your son.

He is here! I am very excited! His younger brother called me today from MEPS and said he just joined the Army as well. I guess the call of the sea just isn't in these kids these days. Navy has way better commercials , how come they keep wanting the ARMY?? Just kidding. I will show him this thread when he gets back from his friends house. Thanks guys.

They must have played at a friends house, no video games here. Wait wasn't there a Chief on that? And SEALs? Hahha
Jason had ambitions of waking up very early today but his bed must have a grapple hold on him.

Maybe they heard all the jokes about sailors...

A blue dress uniform? Are you sure he didn't join the Air Force?
Oh well, it looks better than the green "Class A" suits we had.
