We had a problem with a main steel beam. Miscommunication between achitectural and structural. Beam would have lowered kitchen ceiling 6". Builder didn't blink. New steel, more framers. We've been really lucky with the weather.

Awesome Doc! I was showing my mom the pic of your place. She'd like to retire to a place like that after she is done with her BC battle. Halfway through chemo right now.

You are living out my dream by building a beautiful home in the mountains and waking up to a sunny day with spectacular scenery, and fresh air. I currently have a 10 acre farm in overcast NW Ohio. I just went out today and saw that our creek was frozen over, so it's going to be a long boring Winter here in the flatlands.

I was in Northern California a few weeks ago and needed to clear my mind a bit.

I drove up into the Sierras, hopped of the highway in Truckee and headed North on 89 to 49 and circled back to Sacramento, roads I had driven many times before. Even though I spent fours summers running rivers in the West, I had somehow forgotten just how truly beautiful that part of the country is.

Half way through? Those were dark days. When the chemo stops, the recovery is very fast. Her energy will come back and she'll feel like herself again. Best to your mom.

Main glulam is up. It's the center beam of the living room. The crane was straining like crazy getting that thing up there.
