I had C. diff a few years ago from having to take large doses of Flagyl and Cipro for an abscess due to Crohn's Disease. The doc put me on Vancomycin which is considered a last line antibiotic.
The C. diff was not fun. I also took probiotics which I do not know if they helped any. I gladly would have eaten a poop pill if it would have done the job. For sure its a $hitty situation to be in.

I didn't mean in any way to diminish the seriousness of c diff. Just found the possible cure interesting. My MIL had it a year ago and we were very concerned about the contagious nature of the condition. Definitely need to wash hands a lot if exposed. Bad stuff, hope this continues to be successful cure.

google " fecal transplant" its all the rage now and highly clinically relevant relevant. my laboratory wrks on this concept vis a vis colon cancer ... if you are genetically or occupatiionally prone to intestinal inflammatorry diseases: crohns, ibd etc. just the simple act of swapping out all of your commensal intestinal flora ( resident bacteria in your gut) will have a huge impact on your symptoms and overall disease progression... its friggin amazing frank
