Lord please let me make it through the weekend.

My daughter Arden's Bat Mitzvah is this weekend.

Naturally a big deal for my wife as well as the rest of the family as she is the first grandchild of our generation for both our families.

Don't think my wife has slept in a month, she's stressing herself out something fierce.

It's roughly 48 hours till all hell breaks lose.

The 50 or so out of towner's start showing up on Thursday.

30 people for dinner Friday night before services.

Bat Mitzvah Saturday morning then the party for 100+ Saturday noon followed by the after party Saturday night.

Having a TX style BBQ back at the house Sunday for 70 family and neighbors.

Everyone gone by Monday eve.

Just checked my Klonopin stash, need to see my GP tomorrow for a restock cause I don't think I've got enough.

Oy vey.

Man... I can't even imagine trying to entertain that many people!

May the wind be at your back!

Now I'm off to google Klonopin

Sounds like a fun time with friends and family. Something to be looking forward towards.

Not something to be stressing out and losing sleep over.

Similar story: old friend got married last week. said his new wife was hardcore stressing for the last month, with all the details of the wedding and all. I suggested she was retarded. "You are getting married. It's not hard. If it is, you are doing it wrong" were my words of advice, which are total BS given that I've never been married, but hey, it sounded good on the phone.

Do they have booze at these Jewish things? If so... bottoms up.

A hearty Mazeltov to you. Platzing is a tradition concerning Simchas, after its over you will wonder what you were worried about!

My sons Bar Mitzvah remains one of my life's fondest, most touching memories. Hoping your event is at least as meaningful.

Soak it up...it'll go fast!

No doubt we are looking forward to it. It's going to be an awesome occasion.

Simply the scale of what we planned has kind of hit home as we get into the final stretch.

So many little details to attend to, like folding chairs for Sunday. For some bizarre reason all the local rental places are out of chairs and the one that has the number I need is charging triple rate and astronomical delivery compared to everyone else. Guess that's why they still have them available.

Mike,

Jews are highly adept at turning just about anything into a drink fest. Chanukah is like a religious drinking game. If Christians kept that part of Judaism they'd be wound a lot looser. Kidding, relax, not tossing barbs at Christians, I happen to be one myself.

If you convert to Mormonism all you need is cookies and punch. Perhaps the odd casserole funeral potatoes, everything else is pot luck.

Mike,

Don't know how friendly you are with the local church or temple but maybe they would let you borrow some chairs?

I know my church does that... but we have been members of over thirty years...

See... if you were baptist you wouldn't be having these problems

I said that to the wife as we were leaving rehearsal tonight.

Temple has racks of folding chairs but my feeling was I did not want to put the Rabbi in the position of saying no which IMHO he really should.

It's TX, not a lot of Jews in these here parts so the congregation is small / tight knit and there are lots of things we all do to support it financially.

Basically if you do it for one you need to do it for all who ask and we all know there is one in every crowd who will punish you for your good deed.

I got it all sorted today so we are good. And there is a forecast for rain this weekend so the guests will all come inside while the chairs sit outside and get wet.

During rehearsal tonight I did my spoken parts Southern Baptist style. Our Rabbi is really cool, said "I'm ok with any delivery that makes you comfortable, just leave out the "Hallelujah can I get an Amen" part and we're good"
