Buying A Car.....Call For A Quote (Price)

Somehow my lovely wife and I have been doing a lot of on line shopping for cars, boats and motorcycles In the last 30 days and I see a lot of sellers who say Call For Quote. Of the Ridgeline, The Larson Boat and the Suzuki Boulevard C50T we purchased none were from Call For Quote dealers, who always were almost 5K higher and a** holes. We are very happy with all 3 purchases and got SMOKING HOT deals on all 3, They were great to deal with, Plus it is easy to deal with cash.We also beat the internet price by $500- 1000. One more if they do not list mileage it is HIGH Mileage. What are your thoughts on calling for a price?

I never buy from a dealership unless it is new. No value added, as a matter of fact, they usually subtract value, as they usually destroy original records for the car and you will never know who owned it and how it was kept.

I am not a fan of dealers but a Harley dealer had a 09 Suzuki Boulevard C50T with 2k miles for $3000 less than private sellers and on the 2012 Ridgeline a GM dealer had a RTL with 18 K miles $6.5 less than private sellers wanted @$25k.

It's not just dealers who do that. A lot of private sellers put call for price in their ad and I immediately skip over it.

Anybody who doesn't quote a price in their add is either too high priced or feels they can BS you in person or on the phone that the said item is "worth more because..."

I never look twice at an add that doesn't include the price. Shyster at work. Shady dealings ahead...

Agreed. I automatically avoid "call for price" ads, because they are already wasting my time by making me call.
