De Villota found dead yesterday or early today. She was the F1 hopeful who was badly injured last year in a pit lane accident while testing for Williams (I think)

Didn't mean any disrespect to the deceased.

It is so unusual for a 33 y/o woman to die suddenly of natural causes, and especially one fit enough to have been an F1 tester. I wonder if her prior injuries had anything to do with it, or if she had some underlying condition, illness, etc. Undetected heart condition? I've no reason to suspect foul play or anything deliberate. There will apparently be an autopsy.

The Spaniard, 33, died of a suspected heart attack, with early reports in her home country linking it to the trauma of a major accident she suffered in the UK last year.


The Health and Safety Executive said an investigation into the accident at Duxford airfield in Cambridgeshire was continuing and any post-mortem findings and other developments following her death would be considered.


De Villota, whose father Emilio made two starts for McLaren in the 1977 season, was found dead in her hotel room in Seville where she had been due to appear at a conference on Friday entitled “What Really Matters”. The conference was suspended according to reports in Spain.


Investigators said they had “not found any drugs or signs of violence” adding that “everything points to a death by natural causes”. A spokeswoman for Madrid police added: “We are assuming it was a natural death, but we cannot confirm anything.”

No worries, it wasn't your post I was referring to.... It is odd for a woman to die at that age of natural causes but it does happen. The first thought I had was that she might have taken her own life, intentionally or not, but that doesn't appear to be the case. New book, recently married....

Seems like she had a great life ahead of her.

I wonder what she was thinking as she left her body. Regrets? Sorrow? Anticipation? Fear?

Sad that someone so young and fit could go so suddenly.

Having read about her injuries from the marussia crash, and having rns in the family where we discussed it.........she was most likely still on some serious medication which could have contributed to her death.
And it could've been directly to the head injury.....my friend dale meet the same fate many many months after his accident

He had a heart attack in his 30s , then heart surgery, and contracted AIDS from the blood transfusion, from which he died .
