Anyone every use Barrett Jackson Insurance?

Anyone on the forum use Barrett Jackson for insurance?

They evidently came out with their own branded classic car insurance 4-5 years ago and everything I find on the internet looks positive. I need to insure a couple of classic cars and am getting tired of the limits that Hagerty puts on them.

One of the cars I drive 2-3 times a month (if that) and just kinda perturbed that if I want to drive to the grocery store that its listed on the policy that its not allowed...

My Farmers agent mentioned that they have a classic car insurance but it requires an appraisal before they will accept it. Then the guy they sent me to mentioned Barrett Jackson insurance that does not require an appraisal and supposedly is easier to work with.

Hope that someone here has some experience...

Thx,

Joe

I'll be curious to hear what you find out joe. I've been shopping for my 944. Hagerty seemed ok but I'm talking less than 10k for value.. Geico had a classic car policy that looked pretty damn good too.

I had my '88 911 on a classic car policy, Hagerty was the most expensive, the insurance through Geico wasn't bad (3rd party provider), but the cheapest by far was Leland-West with the PCA discount. They don't restrict you from driving it to work, and really only require that it is garage kept.

Just called Barrett Jackson on this and they seemed very easy to work with, no "do not drive it to work" restrictions" and just asked me how many miles I wanted to drive every year (5000 or less) and will get a quote later today or tomorrow. Just wanted to make sure that its not my "daily driver" and that it was garaged.

Farmers is screwing me and if the car got totaled they would not give me 20% of what its worth, thus the reason for my looking for a different company.

Will report back...

Joe, make sure you tell them you are PCA. If you aren't, just sign up real quick! I saved more on insurance than I pay for my membership, so it would be totally worth it.

Hagerty?

Hey Joe,
Not sure what restrictions Hagerty is putting on, I insured several cars with them, and all they wanted to know was if they were stored in a garage?

+1 on the Hagerty comment above. I just put my 914 and my project 356 on a Hagerty policy last week. The garage situation was the only thing they cared about.

If I recall correctly, Hagerty won't cover you for driving to work.

Curious too of BJ ins.

+1 so far with SF. A little higher than others but have been good. If you have other types of policies with them they lower car prem's as multiple policy discount.

Q: Whats the real deal w/ agents? Farmers or others - Independent working on commission or direct company rep with fixed incentive. Rates swing either high or low for same coverage and scenario. Read and heard from others Allstate was a mix of them and is a hoser company. Company was ridding of independents and now going with company direct reps. Old timer reps are P.O. and unable to sell their franchise after years of building a customer base. Only option is to close the door.

The worst I've heard from a few others (I excuse myself from any libel and forgive me for hearsay) is this. Obviously a number of factors determine rates ie. zip, car, dist. travel, daily driver, where stored, drvr history, etc, etc, - age and gender but have heard race is still used by some. It would be interesting to find very similar drivers and vehicles, but for race and see how they compare with one company.

I would rather risk a "no insurance" ticket rather than give a dime to State Farm. They are a joke of a company who will lie at every turn, even after their OWN expert says damage should be covered and they still don't.

Not me, i would assume that anything associated with BJ would be incredibly overpriced and inflated.

+1
They sponsor the BJ Auctions and other media. Guess who pays for those ads? Try the other companies who have been in the game for awhile.
