Stool experts: Need toilet recommendations

Calling all PPOT plumbers and home improvement experts: Our house was built in 2010 and the builder's grade toilets we have basically clog with anything more than three squares of toilet paper. I'd like to install better toilets... Getting tired of plunging toilets. Any suggestions for new stools that are good quality and won't break the bank too badly? I need four of them. I can install myself just looking for the best brand/price/quality. I looked at Toto but they are spendy (north of $500 each)!

I just replaced a POS made in Ecuador toilet in my condo with an American Standard one-piece toilet. So far, I like it.

We have Toto's and I'm amazed at what they can take at times. In ten years never clogged!

 Toto

I have the most inexpensive toto ~$300 and have never had an issue. 1.2 gal/flush. I almost went ultra cheap at Costco with some other brand but then read a bunch of bad reviews.

Sorry, but Toto is the best I've used even in that price range. Well, there was that one Korean toilet with all the extra features...

I can't recommend a preferred brand, but make sure it's elongated. There's nothing worse than pissing on your underwear/floor because your you know what won't fit in the bowl. Height is another to consider, tis no fun when your nut sack touches water.

American Standard I think it's called a Titan IV or something like that. I installed one earlier this year it say's on the box it can flush a basket of golf balls and I believe it. I have yet to clog this beast, I don't flush until I stand up I'm afraid it will rip off my nad sack !!!

Suggest a visit to Home Depot following a double-cheese burrito at On The Border. Bring a newspaper and try out 3 or 4 display models there on aisle 12. Wouldn't buy a car without a test-drive, would you?

American Standard Champion 4 works very well. I paid about $250 at Lowes. I'll buy another when we remodel the last bathroom.

I have a champion 4 and I don't think I'll buy another. While it doesn't clog, it has a very weird tank to toilet mount so when you lean back (stretching between magazines) the tank moves behind you. Also the height of the bowl seems too high compared to other toilets. The mechanism in the champion is nice and basically funnels all the water out of the tank as fast as possible. High velocity flushing without the pressure tank.

Don't buy a Gerber! We have a low-end one for a spare bathroom...same issue you have. I tried to "turbo" it by raising the tank waterline to give more flushing power. It just succeeded in send poop water into the kitchen downstairs. Hope Gerber goes out of business. Worst. Toilet. Ever.

I forget the make of the toilets we had installed last year at our rental condo(+50 year olds). The previous ones were plugging a lot. We had senior toilets installed. They sit higher and so do you! They were not cheap but apparently are more efficient and the tenants have not complained.

The Kohler toilets in our new home are amazing. We just moved into this place 2 months ago. It made me realized just how bad the toilets were in our old home. It was a crappy situation.
