porceline repair?

sed s/porceline/porcelain/g

Wife broke a pedestal on a sink... no replacements, this this is old.

Aside from gluing it back together, what can be done to fix? Waiting on pics to be sent to me, will post when they get here.

Here is pic after wife has glued it back together.

Suggestions on what to fill the gaps/holes with? Some sort of caulk? White toothpaste?

If it were me, I would search the web for an antique/salvage reseller and see if they had a pedestal that would match it first.

Where to Shop for Architectural Salvage - Old-House Online - Old-House Online

If you are going the DIY route, then I would try getting some form of backing behind the larger holes and fill in with a two part epoxy. Then use a kit like this for the final repair:

Regular acrylic (not silicone) window caulk then, when its dry, paint filler and cracks with auto touch-up paint.
Small tube white GM p/n 1052906
There are porcelain repair kits/paint but IMHO they're pricier and don't look any better.

I like it. It's kind of given it that Old Italian look. She is very creative coming up with that idea.

Why not automotive "Bondo" or body filler, sand and paint.

That's what I would do. Bondo, sand, gloss epoxy paint.

How do you break the pedestal, and not the sink? And I hope she used a strong, not waterbased glue.

A guy who does chipped tub and showers may be one solution. Had several that made all kinds of stuff disappear. Look in the phone book or on-line.

They sell sink and tub porcelain touch up paint at the home improvement stores. That or appliance touch up paint.
