I might be persuaded to make the drive up... . Whereabouts in OKC will you be staying?

What part of OKC are you coming to?

It is possible to be in OKC and be 60 miles away from someone else in OKC.

I'd guess by that route he's coming down the turner and then heading out on 35S or 40W.

And you act like crossing OKC is an issue, I'm talking about driving the 90 miles to get up there!!!

About a six hour round trip for me (or eight by Ural), curse these short daylight days.

Yep, coming in I-40 and heading down I-35.

Have not settled on a place to light yet. Need to have a parking lot that will accept a large trailer and truck and travelling with pets.

Which side would be easier to stay on and meet up? Other than basic safety for the trailer I am not that picky. I used to drive up the Gulf Freeway and around the East Loop in Houston during rush hour traffic and I've done Dallas, LaLa, and Chi-Town during rush hour many a time.

OKC traffic will be a bit worse than around here but no worse than I have been used to in the past.

I am open to any type of food!

Coming from Missouri, you might want to take I-44, not I-40....

Yea, from MO I-44 is better, except it is a toll road. You can always hop over to R-66 but there are lots of little towns and delays. The turnpike is worth the money. 75 MPH speed limit and fairly smooth.

Uhm, yep, I-44! Sort of got carried away there!

I'll stick to the interstate on this one. Big box of a trailer = Not so much fun driving and about 13 MPG with the diesel (full or empty).

Moving, finally! HR at gaining group (same company) finally learned how to type and operate a computer AND enter in dates that were not in the past or dollar figures representing HUGE pay cuts. Only took seven months....

Going back to Whacko. Seems no one else was stupid enough to take the job so they wanted me!

Trailer will have personal crap, '70s stereo system, records (read as vinyl), a bed, desk, chair, and either an '83 or a '95 Porsche. We are not really sure which one is making the trip.

Moving on the Company Dime so I have a set amount of miles per day to travel, set route to travel, specific types of places I can stay, and no alcohol while on the trip. BUT I can watch!

To all: I have met Dave and he is a great guy, ex Air Force but the icky USAF stuff didn't stick

Try and take the time to ease his journey. I'm glad I did a few years ago!

All the best, David...good luck where you are headed!

Working with all these Navy types who inhabit the oceans near Indiana has given me new respect for my USAF roots! ;-)

Ahhh the good ole days with room service providing chef prepared meals in our dorms, 3 hour work days (well, the tough, long ones anyway), constant 75 degree temperatures, bedets for our use, private baths with full hottubs, our favorite sports cars or trucks provided by the Taxpayer, ahhhhh the good ole days!!! At least, that is how the Army folks described us....

Wish I could have been there for the house warming a few years ago! Paintball, fire engines, cookout, filling in the hole! Loved that thread!!!!
