New Silverado Commercials

A man……a man and his truck……

Am I the only one that finds these to be exceptionally lame? Then the commercials lauding feature content brag about a bed step built into the bumper (wow!) and cargo hooks (amazing!). And thank God that somebody stopped them before they wrote “Silverado Strong” on the seats at Fenway for Game 6. In the meantime Ford has some really good commercials with Mike Rowe and Dennis Leary, and Dodge has the great series of commercials with the illustrious Ron Burgandy.

Chevy's commercials have been ultra lame for years. Getting bought by the gov probably didn't help one bit.

Ford, until recently, has done an excellent job, but their last F150 commercial I wasn't impressed by.

Pretty ironic that they are proud of their innovative bed step, yet just a few years ago they had Howie Long poking fun at Ford's "man step" in one of their super bowl commercials.

I thought the Ford bed step was pretty lame, and didn't want it when we bought my F150. Unfortunately the truck that I wanted also had the step, so I just swallowed the option cost and figured that we would never use it. As much as I hate to forfeit my man card, the thing is pretty damn useful. But here's the deal - the Ford step basically cuts your step height in half, as it hangs down about halfway between the tailgate and ground. The Chevy molded in step cuts your step height by what, 6" or so?

I don't DVR live sports. Plus the "man and his truck" commercials are even on the radio.

I love my Ford bed step, getting up in the back of a 4 wheel drive F250 isnt as easy as it was 10 years ago...

What ever happened to "Like a Rock"? Those were pretty decent commercials.

I find the Ford truck commercials lame too...

Seriously, what is the target audience? Don't most people buy trucks because... uh... they need a truck?

(Discounting the slammed air bag suspension one hundred thousand watt stereo metal flake paint job twenty two inch chrome wheel trucker crowd.)

What amuses me about the new trucks are how the front grille is so over-emphasized.....like whoever has the biggest baddest front grille is THE man!

Now that's a MANLY grille!

I saw the Atlas concept at Oshkosh this year, lots of clever concepts that I hope make it to the next F150. Ford has already mentioned that they plan to remove hundreds of lbs from the next F150 by using aluminum and composites, nice to see an automaker realize the benefits of weight loss.

High Country is GM's answer to Ford King Ranch, Ram Big Horn and Toyota 1794. This segment is hot with the average transaction prices rising more than any other segment YoY (Percentage change).

Nothing says "manly cowboy" like glove soft leather, french stitching, and cooled seats.

Me personally, I wish you could get a decent truck with vinyl floors and drain plugs. The closest that I could get was installing Weathertech floor liners, which are waterproof and one piece front and back.

I think the new silverado is fugly.... I think my dad will end up getting a ford for his next truck, and the looks of the new silverado is one reason...

Matt you would like his current ride, it was custom ordered by a fleet. Vinyl matts and cloth seats, but it has the backup cam, remote start, etc....

Real trucks have dents, mud in the carpets, blood in the bed...and dog hair.
I would be too afraid to own something that pretty....

If by made it... You mean has decent credit... Then you are right! . I know tons of people that have these new fancy ass trucks that really don't make that much money, but they can afford the payment. Lots of that going on right now with the oilfield. Guys with almost no education making well over 100k so they go get a big azz house, fancy pickup and a fancy boat. All on payments. I just don't get it. They miss one paycheck and it's all for sale...

Yes! Exactly what I would like to have, kids are at least as hard on a truck as using it for work. I personally hate the new Silverado and rate the Sierra as ok. It's like the only shape they were allowed to use when styling it was a square.

I know a guy that just bought a brand new Raptor for servicing oil wells. He's got the money, but why trash a $55k truck?

Sid - see post #8. That I believe could be your answer. And the truck manufacturers have figured this out and marketed their styling accordingly.

BTW - In my business a lot of guys running HUGE pickups while I am happy with my meager '02 1500 2WD....with full size box.

No need to compensate for something I already have.
