Did a light cleaning on the outside and cleaned up the interior and the daisy wheel. Had to throw the diffuser in with the pan full of water to loosen the crap burnt inside and burn the leavings out of the thing from the previous owner.

Did a couple of t bones on it to break it in. Bit different than the Egg but for the price, it will work!

As you can see, the one shelf is missing and that side's handle is broken. Apparently the parts have been ordered and the PO will call me when they are in. Not holding my breath on that one!

At a garage sale today......

$20 for all of this.

Wheelbarrow in good condition, power strip, plastic tool tray, and 2 jack stands in perfect shape.

I needed that wheelbarrow too as my old one (seen top right) has a rusted out wheel.

Ad had been posted 4 days earlier and was pretty certain they had to have been gone based on the asking price. Called last Sat AM, seller said he still had them. Drove about 30 minutes and on the way over was determining my negotiation tactic to see if I can get them for less. Seller is moving out of his house that day - moving truck is literally on the driveway loading up - and he didn't want to bother with moving them. He offers to drop the price $200 more - I say sold! They have some paint chips and clear coat chips that need to be repaired. Haven't gotten repair quotes just yet, but am expecting $125-150 each. I"ll be into the set for a quite a bit less than 2 brand new ones.

About the chain mail, get involved with a group that does jousting and sword fighting. I had a computer software student 4 or 5 years ago who did that and the class was on Monday. Sometimes he would come in after a couple hard hits to the head and could hardly remember his name! He sure loved it though. His girl friend did too as she would dress like maid Marian and such.

That's a nice Makita stand, Paul....good score!

How about a water ski Adirondack chair for free! Was sitting out by the curb right around the corner the other day. Brought it home and put two coats of minwax poly on it....dang thing is in perfect shape and unbelievably comfortable!

I also like that you can set your beverage right on the arm! :p

So you're the guy I see at yard sales buying old shoes. I would never by someone's shoes.

That is because you are RICH and SPOILED. If you truly needed a pair of shoes you wouldn't care if you had to pry them off the cold dead feet of a Leper. You are truly a poster boy for how America got itself into the mess that it is in.*

My Dad could certainly afford to buy a pair of Bally shoes, but it was only in the last couple of years of his life that he broke down and spent the money to buy a pair ON SALE. Yet for what he spent on one pair of Bally's back in the mid 80's I have 15 pairs of largely NEW Ballys.

If he knew that he could find Bally's in a Thrift or at a yard sale for a couple of bucks he would not be adverse to purchasing them. As a matter of fact a lot of people who live in toney neighborhoods buy used shoes... Figure it out, you buy a pair of $1200 Versace ankle boots for $12...you still have $1188 left in your pocket and nobody knows that you bought them in a Thrift for $12 when you are at a posh soiree in your toney hood. All that the people think when they see you is that guy must be really rich? And you are cause you still have that $1188 (and all the other $1188's) in yer pocket.

What it comes down to is that you gots the goods which you paid little for and would otherwise have had to depleted your bank account (at least a bit) to buy. Which means that you are all that much more rich, cause you still have the dinero in your pocket. Until you grasp that concept you ain't never truly gona be rich...cause the trick in staying rich is in how to keep it and also get what you want.

*A lot of old timers would not be adverse to wearing used shoes for themselves, but for their kids they would never impose that upon them...they wanted to give their kids what they never had (and thought they would be happy)..In that America created generations of spoiled and entitled people. "I WON'T wear someone else's stinky old shoes, I can AFFORD NEW ONES, I am a rich and prosperous American."

Americans lost sight of the fact that conspicuous consumption does not lead to happiness nor contentment. My parents Generation that grew up with out, felt as kids that if they only had that new pair of shoes they would be happy. They then gave their children new everything including shoes, thinking that would make their kids happy campers. It doesn't quite work that way, but what it has led to are generations of Americans chasing happiness through material acquisition.

But don't buy any more tights in pink. They would send an ambiguous message.
