What? A D-bag that likes food?
Urban Dictionary: foodie But yes, I was a picky eater and now I would consider myself as falling under definition #4 and 5

Sure.
I was a picky eater as a kid. When I moved away from home and had to eat my own cooking I discovered that I really liked other people's cooking most of the time. Some people should never be allowed to cook. A friend explained the secret about going to someones house to eat. Compliment the cook, compliment the food and clean your plate and enjoy the meal. You will be asked back. I discovered all sorts of new food I would have never tried on my own.

Sure. My GF's son is about as picky as they come, but he's coming around. Sandwich meat has to have an Oscar Meyer label. Just last week we made meat loaf, he had a little tantrum and wouldn't touch it. So the leftovers sat in the fridge for a few days. One night we decided to mash it up, mix in some taco seasoning and throw it on tostadas, he loved it.
I was dying to ask him how he liked the meat loaf, but his momma told me to zip it. Trick fuchery works. I have no idea how I can get him to eat beans, doesn't matter the color, style or flavor, he won't touch them. Told him he can rip ass better if he eats them, but it was all for not.

One of my co-workers had son that was a SUPER picky eater. He enlisted in the Marines. When he returned from boot camp he would anything.

No one who is actually a foodie calls themselves a foodie. This term is almost as overused as mixologist.
Please, just stop.

What about all those people who have posted pics of their food on the off Topic section of a car site? Are they foodies?
And, can't certain female body parts be classified as food? Therefore, if you enjoy... |

Most "picky" eaters are too scared to try something new or different. "I don't like it" or "I don't think I'll like it" for stuff they have never tried. I know MANY people who've never tried sushi for example, because "ewww...raw fish".
My guess is most picky eater haven't tried most things. Impossible to become a foodie if you're too scared to try something new.

Hello, My name is Doug and I'm a foodie. The first step is to admit you have a problem.

Trying to get my mom, staying with us for a month or so to help with a new baby, to do new stuff... Avocado roll? "ick - raw fish!" (????) Ceasar salad? "ick - anchovies!" Pork chops cooked somewhere less than leather? "ick - pinkish!" Great to have her with us - we make food accommodations - but wow am I proof that one can grow from picky to foodie. In college I was just as I was raised. Finally get dates built around food and suddenly sushi, oysters and even (blargh) kale are somehow palatable. I blame girls on diet-grown-up-ed-ness. If not for them I'd be eating Totinos pizza and Spaghettios...

My dad was a picky eater...until he was in his 60s. I suspect it had to do with boredom. Eat the same thing for so long, you crave something different I suppose. We took him to a hardcore dim sum meal..and he ate some things well out of his comfort zone. He did say he likely wouldn't eat most of them again...but he was glad to try them and was surprised about the taste. Once we told him it's not just about taste, but also texture, mouthfeel, etc...he seemed to "get it". He's been pretty adventurous with his eating since. You don't have to like everything you eat. Just TRY something different.

Scorpion tastes like shrimp/crawfish (IMO). I'm sure most people would enjoy them if they got over the fact they were eating a scorpion.
