I definately wouldnt be happy with much less than that.

You would have either a 4.6 or 5.4. Decent mileage you're getting either way.

Not to go wayyyy off topic. It have you seen the diesel ram 1500? Jeez that thing is nice and priced right.

Couldn't 'member zackly, it's a 2010 and has the bigger of the two options so it's the 5.4 L

Our family has a '13 F150 w/ turbo V6. 4door, short bed. It has more room in the back seat than our '07 Expedition, and tows better as well. It has taken an enclosed tandem axle car hauler w/ small cars (Alfa, 356, and corvette) all over. The built in brake controller works great. Freeway mileage unloaded is around 23mpg at the speed limit, and between 13 and 17 when towing, depending on load.

4x4 crew cab, std bed.

That's good MPG, but the 300 HP 5.4L is barely adequate power in my opinion. My father in law has a 2008 Supercrew 4x4 with the 5.4, passing on two lane roads can be a bit stressful.

That's great MPG. I didn't even look at the Chevy when we bought our F150 in 2012 because the rear seats were way too small in the crew cab. I haven't looked at a new one to see how they compare to the F150.

it's fine fer me, basically commuting and trips.
My biggest beotch is the stoopid computerized transmission. it sposedly learns, but all it learns how to do is not shift sometimes .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. .................................................. ................... and then BAM.

onewhippedpuppy 11-20-2013 04:37 PM

The new ones are better but still do that. They apparently need to do some more learning.

FYI BOTH BRAND NEW SHOWROOMSTOCK FORD ENTERED BONE STOCK TRUCKS with ecoboost engines "DNF'd the BAJA 1000 this past week.

and thats ONLY 1000 miles actually to be precise: 836 MILES!

Found On Road Dead=FORD!

betcha didnt know that!

and i'll bet YOU/ME would play HELL finding OUT WHAT BROKE??? aka HUSH HUSH SSSSSSHHHHHHH!

ferd dont like bad press like that.

last chevy 5.3 liter, i owned went went 298,000 FLAWLESS miles before trade in. and these included mucho HARD BAJA miles.

just sayin

onewhippedpuppy 11-20-2013 06:59 PM

Nothing runs poorly longer than a Chevy.;)

chapo 11-20-2013 09:09 PM

And Ford entered Ecoboost motors in previous Bajas and did fine. Have a 2012 f150 5.0 xlt 4x4 crew cab 4x4 after owning a few diesel Fords in the past. Quietest, smoothest riding truck I have ever been in. Tows my enclosed trailer with no problems. 35k with zero problems and I treat a truck like a truck.

ODDJOB UNO 11-21-2013 02:52 AM

ahhh as per ALL FINISHERS this was the MOST DIFFICULT BAJA 1000 in the LAST 30 years. and thats been QUOTED MULTIPLE TIMES POST RACE!

fords ecoboosters DNF'D plain and simple.

AND CHEVY WON!

veteran world rally racers have stated that paris to dakar(now sud amerika) is a cake walk in comparison to the baja races.

i know i know its baja, but plain and simple, the ford ecoboost with more money than gawd backing them in a showroom stock class DID NOT FINISH 836 miles there. WONDER WHY?????????????????????

so tell me.............why did a showroom stock LEXUS driven by bacall from az. have a ZERO EVENT RACE. as in flawless NO PROBLEMS and win his class?

and CHEVY TAKE THE WHOLE ENCHILADA!

onewhippedpuppy 11-21-2013 05:33 AM

Note to self - don't race my F150 in the Baja 1000.:p

Mine gets used mainly to haul kids, a boat, and home improvement supplies. Fun as it sounds, I don't see the Baja in its future.

chapo 11-21-2013 05:46 AM

Good thing Ford has won the Baja overall 17 times, quite a bit more than Chevy. I detect a slippery slope here into another topic.

Shuie 11-21-2013 06:22 AM

Thanks for keeping the discussion on track :D . Yep, no Baja 1000 for me in the near future. I don't need to tow the space shuttle or a Boeing 727 either. I just want the cooled leather seats.

onewhippedpuppy 11-21-2013 07:18 AM

Heated/cooled seats are the best feature ever. Sadly my wife wanted a front bench, so a loaded XLT was as fancy as we could get. Were it up to me we would have a Supercrew Raptor, at about double the price and 1/2 the MPG.:)

Shuie 11-21-2013 08:07 AM

Cooled leather seats, V8, Crew Cab, 2wd for under $35k + TTL were the requirements I gave the sales guy. A loaded FX2 w/tow package at $36.5k (with the incentives) is the best they have come back with so far.

My buddy has a chebby truck and he's complaining that it burns oil, a quart every 3000 miles. I said heck that aint bad fer a chebby, last chebby truck I had lost a quart every 1500 miles it did it fer 150k.

His truck is the same year as mine, same miles givertake, and similar options. No way would I trade my furd fer his chebby. No way in hell.

Don't be afraid to cross shop dealerships. Like I said, the "best price" between dealerships in the same town was an almost $3k difference.

matt711 11-21-2013 12:44 PM

It's pretty amazing what these trucks have evolved into. I love my heated and cooled seats and the back up camera is fantastic, hooking up my boat is now a one person job. I definitely don't long for the old days when I drove a F150 XL with the straight six and 5 speed. My F250 has spoiled me...

911boost 11-22-2013 10:42 PM

My 2012 F350 has spoiled me as well, the heated / cooled seats are a nice touch. I have 16,000 on it without a glitch, which in my opinion is expected.... I don't drive it as much as the '92 Mustang has taken up the daily driver / airport duties. We did get some snow this week so the truck got driven.
