Trade a ride in your 911 for concert tickets? (long)

I know some of you on the forum know that I've been looking for another car.
I do believe I've found the car for me. BUT, I do know that in the process I've driven 6 or 8 cars in my area and learned LOADS from the experience.

I often view the BBS in my spare time, and i wonder; "Geez, wouldn't it be great if I could travel the country and get a feel for what all the Pelicans are doing with their cars? I could see in person all the wonderful cars that I've only seen pictures of on the internet. I could get some people together and put faces on the names, etc. I could get a feel for what kind of car I want and what I might want to do with it."

Which leads my to my premise:
I play in an established rock&roll band that travels the country all year long. 3 of the guys on the bus are p-car guys and it's often a topic of casual discussion during non-work time. So anyway:

Check out my band: www.bigheadtodd.com/tour

If anybody is a fan or wants to come see a cool show, here's the deal: Come early. Drive your p-car. Show me why you love it. Take me for a ride. Show me the cool trick stuff you've done. Get free concert tickets. Expand the Pelican community.

Whaddya say?

If anyone wants to take me up on this trade-idea, please email jeremy (at) bigheadtodd (dot) com and let's have some fun.

Big Head Todd and the Monsters? Uhhh yeah, I guess you could call it an established band. (geez!)

This looks like a great opportunity for some people to get to to a couple fun things.
- See a great show and...
- Show someone why they love their car

No Orange County shows I see...
It will be interesting to see the range of cars you get that people want to share. From the classic unmolested "Porsche the way it always has been" experience to the fire breathing "I think I was just assaulted by the seat" monsters.

Hey Jack Olsen: You like to show people your car... (endlessly! )
Why don't you test their bladder control in that rather unsubtle beast?

Wow, looks like you are playing at Suede (5 miles from my house) TOMORROW! I'd love to take you for a ride in my car but it's up on stands now for work, and the roads in our neighborhood are still snow packed. You're welcome to come by and check it out though. I live in Summit Park.

As you know, the Sundance Film Festival is in town right now, so it's a bit crowded (lots of folks wearing fur, black clothes and funny looking boots). But if you're willing to put me on the guest list at Suede I'll be there

Have fun,

Jeff

I'm 10 minutes from the Gypsy. If you hit Dallas in the daylight, I can come by in the 993. She doesn't stay out after dark in Deep Ellum, but be glad to come down and give rides. I'll send you contact info.

What a great way to pass the time while on tour! I wish I was closer to one of the venues. Have fun, this could be a very neat story for a magazine to pick up...

WOW! You guys are P-nuts! I've been listen to the band since the early 90's when I was in college. And you're going to be in Chicago on the 26th. Hmmm...maybe I can take my Carrera out of the garage. The "Bastard" is in no condition to drive. OR...if you guys want to hang out we could do a beer night in the City and you guys can hang out with other P-nuts.

How funny. I'm a huge Big Head Todd fan. In fact, my wife and I already have our tickets to see you guys in Atlanta next month. I could probably be talked into driving my 911 over there if you'd get Todd to autograph my Les Paul...

That's a busy 3 months Jeremy...

Though you should talk to your booking agent, Minnesota and Chicago in January? I wish I could take you up on the Vic offer, my 993 is up for winter repairs. You could come out to the shop here and we'll terrorize my neighborhood with the racecar. I'm sure you just have LOADS of free time based on that schedule, yikes!

So what model are you looking to buy?

(Great band BTW!)

Geez, this would mean I have to put the Alternator and the Carbs back on instead of having them spread around my garage. Are you in collusion with my wife?

Unbelievable... A BHTM guy right here among us! I have been listening since the early 90's and would say that BHTM is one of my all time favorite bands. A memory that sticks in my mind is from about 5 years ago on a 100 degree night in Westport Plaza, Kansas City, Missouri - Broken Hearted Savior....Wow. Absolutely MOVING!!!!

I noticed no KC stops on your tour this time. Seems like I have seen you 5 or 6 times in this area, and would love to take you for a ride in my RS spec Coupe. Let me know if you sneak in a KC stop, because the wife and I will be there for sure.

Thanks for the incredible music over the years. It has inspired me many, many times.

Fillmore in the city? I saw Johnny Winter there before you were born!

You want to see what a 2,500 pound 911 feels like with a '98 3.6 engine in the back?

Wow thanks for all the replies!

After I posted I realized that asking all you home-wrenchin, self-fixin guys to pull your car out of the garage in the dead of winter was probably not gonna work very well. But hey, that's what it's all about.

But like I said, if anyone's interested, shoot me a personal email and we'll see what we can do. Maybe if the idea takes off we can host pelican get-togethers or meet and greets or something.

Yeah, jandrews, no KC this time, sorry. Actually, the car I'm likely going to buy is in KC and I'm getting a PPI at Bob Hindson Racing next week. '83 SC. Do you know anything good or bad about BHR?

And yes, Moses. That's exactly what I'm talkin about!

Wow, very cool, I've been listening to BHT since the early 90's. Very cool. Makes me wish I still had my 911. I'd take you for a ride in Feb.

Great band!

I've got Stratagem, Sister Sweetly, and Another Mayberry sitting on the shelf still.

I might be close to the Tempe, AZ concert. I'd be happy to give you a ride in my RS America. That's what I usually take when I go to the Phoenix area.

I have her set up for street/track, it's a trade off, but works for me.

I wouldn't know BHT from Little Head Todd, but I'm willing to learn.

Targa with the top off in February, DC: good for you, good for me...that's, to steal your phrase, is how I love it
