From what I understand of this car, it is a factory-built car but did not see competiton in the WRC with Audi Sport. It was sort of assembled from spare parts. That's why there is no competition history other than Frank Sprongl in Canada - significant in its own right since he is a multiple North American Rally Champion - and Bruno Kreibich. It's probably priced a bit optimistically, or it would have been scooped up by one of the known collectors in Europe already.

I see somebody on Bring a Trailer posted a pic of my car as a comparison Although mine is a log-booked open-class rally car and has similar HP, it was built here in the US in the 90s and lacks the unobtainable werks parts. Hardly in the same price league

Thanks Doug. The thing I've learned driving the car is respect for all those who drove these things in anger. It is a very difficult car to drive at anywhere near the limit. The throttle is pretty much an on-off switch. Combine that with the severe understeer and one stays very busy behind the wheel There's a reason why they eventually installed a crude electric 'clutch' button on the shift lever (trying to operate 3 pedals simultaneously is not ideal!).

This is one of my favorite Sprongl videos. Nearly identical A2 to the one for sale, but not the same car. Frank still owns this one although he has been forced to retire it from competiton due to the high value of the car If anybody's up in the Toronto area, it is usually on display at the Audi of Mississauga dealership right off the 401.
