Brain Trust ? - Bluetooth Speakers

I know we have a diverse membership here. Looking for some recommendations for a small Bluetooth speaker system for my college age daughter for her dorm room. want something that sounds ok but also has some quality construction. Quick searches reveals the jawbone jambox as one of the favorites, but also see an extremely large number of refurbs (questions quality).

Anybody have ones they recommend??

I just finished doing my shopping around here for one. Pretty certain I'm going to head out this evening and pick this one up. B&W A7 Wireless Music System. It's not inexpensive, but I'm through buying junk. Costs too much to buy **** over and over.

+1 on the big jambox. Use it in side and outside seems pretty rugged

Wireless in theory shouldn't be any worse than a quality radio, right?

Another thought is an apple airport express attached to any stereo system of your choosing...

Sonos is pretty highly regarded.

I'm a stereo guy and was very impressed with the sound that comes out of the Jambox.

I have a system at home. I'll update this when I get there.

Jambox rocks. Absolutely love it. Anytime I travel, it goes with me.

While I a fan of the Jawbone products & Jambox, I'm about to try the JBL Flip Wireless Bluetooth Speaker, main reason, it it can also be used as a speaker phone and saw one being used the other day and the sound was big for the size. Pretty reasonable priced at right around $100.

The jambox can be used as a speakerphone too Byron.

My Jambox goes with me while I travel for work. Quality built. I feel it could use some more volume, but sounds really nice. I hear the Big Jambox sounds even better. Jambox also comes in a large variety of color combinations if that's important. You can even change the voice on the box that tells you your battery life etc. I changed mine to German.

Not loud enough? I've used one sitting on the patio table to have goo volume all over a medium sized backyard.

Big Jambox or the smaller one? What are you using to steam music to the box? I use Apple products and I have a feeling that is my problem. My Jambox is definitely not loud.

Regular Jambox and streaming Pandora off my iPhone. I've used one with mulitple iPhones and an iPad and never had a volume problem.

allaircooled 11-24-2013 05:18 PM

Hmmm.... Either I have bad hearing or we have a difference of opinion on what loud is. :) I have used mine on multiple Macs and iPhones as well with the same result which is why I thought it was a Apple problem. Either way I like the product and do recommend it.

Craig CHT912. It is a "big bar". It will connect to "anything" Bluetooth. Phone, iPad, PC, Tablet, etc.

Thanks

Thanks for all the input. Looks like I will be going out and listening to the Jambox and the Flip. Seems they both get pretty good reviews, but most reviews give the Flip the vote on sound.

Budget minded? Recently had a chance to compare a dozen or so small portables and liked this $199 Sony SRS BTX300... now 1/2 off Sale at Target and Meijer for only $99.

Sony Bluetooth Wireless Speaker - Black (SRS-BTX... : Target

Next in line was the Soundfreaq also on sale for $79.

Soundfreaq Sound Kick Wireless Bluetooth Speaker... : Target

Sure the Bose Soundlink and Big Jambox edge them as expected for the money they command.

Any updates to this info? I'm in the market now. Bose seems highly priced as usual.
