2001 Ford F150 SuperCrew with squeaky front end
2001 Ford F150 SuperCrew with squeaky front end when going over bumps, etc. I replaced the upper and lower control arms (that included new ball joints and bushings, along with new tie rods, steering components, etc. 4 years ago). Could it be worn out again in 20k miles?
To me, it's not squeaking bad, but according to my wife and son, it's terrrible. ![]() Any ideas on lubing/greasing things as an alternative to replacing everything again? |

Any rubber and or plastic bushings can squeak. I would try a can of silicone spray. Silicone won,t damage rubber or plastic .Directed at anything you can see. Sway bar bushings ,control arm bushings etc.
20k over 4 years says not worn out but dry from sitting long periods

As a side note, silicone on paint is a disaster so if you must spray, do it carefully.

If concerned then read the can for cautions. I believe I have seen cans marked rubber lubricant and always assumed the contents were mostly silicone.

Now in 993 land ...

Many of the suspension and steering components are non-greasable these days. I have had good luck with a needle on my grease gun and some RTV to close up the hole. My 97 F150 had a terrible steering idler arm squeak. Non-greasable part. Fixed it for many years to to come with a grease injection to the boot!
![]() I would however not just grease every part, rather than figure out what is squeaking first. G |
