Davis started out with a state treasury surplus that Wilson created for him. Davis has blown it all instead of predicting that we might have a recession like we have every ten years. He could have held some back instead of giving it all away and we wouldn't be as broke as we are now. If it weren't for the real estate boom, we'd be in so deep right now that it would take a decade to get right. Yea, he will win by default and the fact that CA is almost all Democrats now.
Why are we always left with no real choices at the polls? |

Wayne,
You had better add the water problem CA will be having after the election in Nov. They have been keeping that one under tight lips, but it will surface soon enough.

Thumbs up I say so far for the man from Texas...
Wayne, I'm not going to say this to make you angry, but GWB is not CA's friend. We have been fighting for years to keep oil drlling rigs out of the ocean off of Santa Barbara and other places. You should read up on the big oil spill in Santa B some years ago. We, as well as OR and WA have been looking for responsible forest management. The man from TX doesn't give a crap about CA because CA went Gore. What this country needs is a king to put on a pedestal and a board of directors to run things. Bush is a loose cannon. |

You act surprised as if you thought GWB was going to care about CA. He's done surprisingly well so far, even considering that a bunch of schmoes out here didn't vote for him.

Dems in charge..
Wayne...many years before you got here the Dems were running California. Even when P Wilson was Gov., the Dems ran this state. Here we are now and they are still running California. The next vaca you get, take a run up to Sacramento and take a peek how things in this are run. Believe me, it is a very humbling experience. If you thought your local Assemblyman OR Senator , votes the conscience of his/her district you will be rudely incorrect..
...and yes you're correct. The Repuplicans ( GW) spends little time here. The reason being..is that the "Show Biz" $$ ALL goes to the Dems. Don't you remember the show they put on in Florida the evening before the Prez election?? That was Hollywood at it's finest. I'll give you a bit of a hint here Wayne... the people that run CAlifornia Predominantly live in in West LA. Ron Burkle ring a bell..?? |

He wouldn't understand...
Wayne...wouldn't "get it" Johnny. He can pontificate ALL he wants, but the bottom about politics is, "if you haven't seen how it works, you ain't gonna understand". It would be the Dems, that would say, "we're passing new legislation, that would prohibit you selling ANY Porsche parts, without giving Porsche NA, 40% of your profits"..that, in itself would get Wayne to Sacramento. At some point, opining, just helps fill balloons. If you want change, your 1 vote "ain't gonna get it"..!!!

Step by step: 1. In this state Wayne, the Dems write advisarial legislation which jeopradizes your business.. 2. Your group ( business collegues)organizes an association or PAC ( political action committee) 3. Your group hires a lobbiest ( Another Dem ) 4. Your PAC collects mucho $$ ( $typically $100,000.00 plus) 5. You go to lots dinners for Democrats, meet some other Dems that are on that committee...to chat about the adverse legislation. You donate money to that Dems re-election fund hoping you "get his/her ear. 6. Committee meets, Every Dem on the committee owes the other Dem a favor... 7. Legislation gets defeated ( narrowly)...your not done !! 8. Next session comes around, your PAC is hooked, the legislation gets re-introduced....AND WHALLA, IT STARTS ALL OVER AGAIN. THAT'S HOW THE DEMS DO IT !!!!! Last edited by curtisaa; 09-04-2002 at 02:43 PM.. |

We've got our own stooges on this coast: re, Andrew Cuomo. Too bad he opted out, Pataki would've been a shoe-in.

And I thought we had it bad here when we got stuck with Jesse Ventura...thank God that bonehead will be out of the picture here soon. I'm just happy to say that even as liberal as my state is, at least I don't live in California!!! I feel for ya Wayne. Good luck!

I do a fair amount of business travel and am always amazed at how awesome CA is when I get home. We get kinda jaded living here and it takes a good whack on the head (travel East) to make me see clearly again. I can appreciate the history and sights of the East but honestly no job offer, not even Gray Davis, would ever get me to leave CA. |
