I survived !!

Type A aortic dissection. Aortic dissection - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Happened November 2.
Nine hours of surgery and 11 days in hospital. All the Docs and nurses say I was incredibly lucky to make it.

So, I had a good Thanksgiving !!

Holy cow! It's great to hear you're still among us. Take care of yourself and I hope you can enjoy many, many more holidays. SmileWavy

icemann427 12-10-2013 06:26 PM

And now a Merry Christmas to you and your family!!

pete3799 12-10-2013 06:27 PM

Wow
Glad your still with us.

Wilhelm 12-10-2013 06:29 PM

Thanks guys ! I am doing well so far .
I never really had any serious medical issues...so it was strange to have a BIG one and come close to sudden death !

drcoastline 12-10-2013 06:32 PM

Glad to hear you survived Willhelm. Congratulations.

KevinP73 12-10-2013 06:52 PM

Glad to hear you're back on your feet Bill. Hope to see you around soon.

look 171 12-10-2013 06:57 PM

Glad to hear that you are doing well. If you need anything, I am just a traffic jam away, so don't be shy.

Wilhelm 12-10-2013 07:09 PM

Thanks Kevin, look 171 and all. I think I will be around for a while.
Like someone once said, "If I knew I was going to live so long I would have taken better care of myself ! "

I knew things were serious when I was in the Emergency Room and they were asking me about next of kin and if I had a Living Will and End of Life Instructions and that sort of thing !!

onewhippedpuppy 12-10-2013 07:16 PM

Holy crap, that's serious stuff. Glad you are still with us, take it easy for a while!

Glad you pulled through. They ask all those questions and they still you want you to remain calm!

Glad you survived that, my father did not.

Your condition was no joke.

Take care of yourself.

DonDavis 12-10-2013 08:51 PM

Very pleased to hear it went well! You were one of the lucky ones.

Take care, and Merry Christmas!

Nickshu 12-10-2013 08:52 PM

Same thing happened to my business partner on Nov 21, 2012. In the office. We provided supportive care until the paramedics arrived. She also was lucky to survive. The stats were against you, glad you beat the odds!

glewis80SC 12-10-2013 08:54 PM

Glad you are doing good, those usually don't end well.

Don Plumley 12-10-2013 09:22 PM

Wow, that's a big one. I know of two others, one lucky, the other, not. Marfans?

livi 12-10-2013 09:59 PM

I'm very glad you're still with us! :)

You are a very lucky man. I read the Wiki article you posted, and you must have angels on both shoulders! You are a gentleman and a scholar. Welcome back, Wilhelm, and good health to you! :)
