I had a grade 8 bolts break with crevice corrosion. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1387507842.jpg

was not fun spinning and facing oncoming traffic

Jeremy:

Were those "early" bolts? Or their upgraded ones?

JeremyD 12-19-2013 07:11 PM

early

Noah930 12-19-2013 07:13 PM

Any problems with the new and improved ones?

JeremyD 12-19-2013 07:28 PM

nope

If you get the wrong bolts and you get maimed or killed, it may be God's will, but You still chose the bolts...

Do it right, or don't do it at all. Would you take shortcuts on a tile job ?

Because it is entirely possible that Grade 8 bolts aren't strong enough. In the world of fasteners, Grade 8 is not very "high strength".

Are you really willing to risk your safety on $100 worth of fasteners?

Or if you don't care about your car spinning off the road or track, what about the poor guy you take out in the process? Wheels, brakes, suspension -> no shortcuts.

I will not compromise safety.

I wanted to save some bucks on the bolts.
The bolts that were more expensive were also grade 8 cap screws from the hardware store.

Point me in the right direction for 'wheel halve bolts'.
Do they include bolt grade and torque specs?

thanks
