General consensus from people who know cars PIECE OF ****.

Speeder one of the rare libs on this forum has his head up his ass. out

if you don't do this every time you work on a german car as well, your opinion is null and void.

as much as i like german cars more then italian ones, "german engineering" is worth dick. its worth a **** ton of headaches and "why the **** would they ever do this?"

He doesn't work on German cars, or any cars for that matter. He's just a guy who inherited a bunch of nice collectible cars who likes to high-sign on internet forums.

My friend who actually works on Mercedes-Benz cars for a living, (everyday for 40 yrs. including dealer shop foreman experience in the '70s/'80s up to today), has an expression that is used a lot back in the service dept., "engineered like no other POS on earth..."

Ever change a starter on a straight 6'd BMW?

javadog 12-26-2013 07:53 AM

Or, change the oil filter on a E30 M3, while hot.

Or, check reset the rear wheel bearing clearance on a 930 at the first service.

Etc.

You boys need to learn to play nicely together.

No, the worst automotive engineers are from Russia and the FSU. We can thank them for Lada's and Trabbie's....

Your probably right I was speaking in the context of cars that anyone here would possibly want to own though.

gearya 12-26-2013 10:48 AM

German engineering?

VW's are German. Don't forget that.

Always wanted a 512BBi... maybe one day.... But they are just like the early 911's. Parts costs are high, but they are easy to work on in the garage. I've been a member of Ferrari Life for many years and there are some great people there to help with DIY. :)
