affordable exotics, supercars, and semi exotics

Inspired by the other threads. Just cool or rare cars are welcome as well. I'll start with exige and Elise. I've always maintained these are the poor mans carrera rs. I had an Elise for many years and the exige for a few. I have done all my own work and even including some upgrades and several track days in each I don't think I spend more than 1000$ per year in general maintenance

I think most of us would vouch for the affordability of pretty much the entire 911 series.

Series 1 Lotus Esprit. Not fast, but I love the 70's wedge styling...void of wings, intakes, etc.

A friend has a 2008 Caterham 7. Has a Focus engine in it and might even be supercharged. I know he paid about $35k for it used in 2010.

What is your definition of:
1) Exotic?
2) Supercar?
3) Semi-exotic?

In the 1980s a Supercar was defined (by LJK Setright and his colleagues at CAR magazine) as a car that could break 150mp/h.

Exotic and semi-exotic is a description if you ask 10 people you would get 10 differing responses.

Semi-exotics = Japanese sports cars like the NSX, RX7.

Only "exotic" I lust for is a Pantera. Have zero interest in any of the typical eurocars.
