No, junior, that's not gonna fly either.

But there is still one group that is OK to publicly hate, disparage and proclaim yourself to superior to, the lowly Union worker. Yes, feel free to publicly hate your friendly local school teacher, firefighter, policeman, gov worker, factory or construction worker for the despicable crime of merely trying to put food on his or her table. AMERICA!

Let's try a little experiment here, shall we? Let's substitute the words "white people" for the word Union in the above quotes. Keep in my mind, these are the words of the people quoted above, just with a different group being the target.

No advice but I detest white people. Nothing more than extortion and a safety net for under performing workers.
We have no place for them in today's economy

(White people are) crooks making a quasi-legal living off the rank and file. they should be tased!

I hope I never find myself somewhere with white people or having to work with white people. I'm sure they aren't all bad, but it seems like it breeds shoddy work ethics.

White people are corrupt.

I felt like the goal of the white people was to get people to do as little work as possible and to keep me from moving up in the company and getting a raise.

So sick and tired of seeing (white) parasites that are slowly killing their hosts.
I hire blacks every chance I can get.

Not only whites, but their members totally drunk their cool aide

Whites are the reason steel failed in this country and moved overseas

If people only knew what is happening at the Shipping Ports on the West Coast with white people. You would totally disgusted.

Protecting some slacker half wit white person does not add to the profitability of any company or organization.

I'll be the first to admit white people have shot their load. Although they are a few rare examples where they still are needed. but in the long run they have done more damage then good.

True, but even more so for white people for government workers. These should be illegal. They collect dues and then use the dues to elect politicians who will give them better benefits and pay, all on our dime!

white people allow Chicago suburb POLICE to work HALF DRUNK Cheers

Not very pretty is it?

This thread went South fast... thank you Black73. Silly argument PARF prepped. Hmmm, then I guess you're saying its OK and CLAIMING white ONLY taxpayers AGREED for a public workers POLICE UNION, whom UNION decides its OK for PINK, BLACK or WHITE police to be half DRUNK while ON THE JOB.

Funny alright. I could picture you cussing about those rotten white people after some scenario's...LOL. Picture the remote possibility that the next time you visit a party sober in a Chiva'go suburb, you mistakenly get shot by a half drunk on duty cop (oh lets have some fun and call it a transsexual mixed race cop) or driving your car and get hit by a half drunk cop. Cheers to the Union's!

A friend got hired by the city water co, basically a road crew detail. When he was first hired, he was the digger, that's all he could do. The truck driver drove the truck, that's all he was allowed to do. Etc, etc. They had 3-5 on a team and each had his job and no one would help the others because it wasn't their job. He's in a hole digging and the others would be standing around bsing cuz it wasn't their job to help. Union rules. It took them forever to get shyte done but they got paid good wages. What a rip for the city and the taxpayers.

Not AWOL as our house was on his route. However, I get your point. He should have walked slower so the people would have got their mail later.

never worked union but in the automotive repair field everyone was union before dealer got car steelworkers, assemblers, shippers etc.. all we got in dealer life was warranty and no pay standard between dealers so was better to be union than in independant dealer life. they are retired. mechanics or technicians still working and had to buy all those tools. plus deal with all those unrealisic repair times and cheap dealers.

Unions at work...

13 UAW workers at Chrysler who were caught red-handed drinking and smoking weed during work hours are reinstated | AEIdeas

RANDY P 12-29-2013 02:02 PM

I used to "date" a chick that worked in the OH Chrysler plant. She told me firsthand stories, such as one guy literally dropping dead on the way out of work (punching out) and NO ONE stopping to help him.

Then there was the illegal gambling ring that one guy was so wrapped up in he kept telling his wife the plant wasn't paying him- until she called and found out the plant has been paying him just fine.

there was a psychopath that worked there that was fired 26 times (?)- the union kept getting his job back. Finally got killed off doing something stupid like threatening management or assaulting someone- something like that.

She had someone threaten to kill her- I think it was the 26X fired guy, and she was truly worried for her life.

If you worked too fast, people would smash and destroy your tools whilst on break.

Rings and pinions would routinely fly through the air, at various people.

Sounds like a Union utopia...

Thank you for the post written by the union black 73. I believe this thread is about the union, not the worker. Where a worker is mentioned, it's because they are a bum and the union protected them.

As a long time negotiator, I will tell you there are three parties in any negotiation - the company, the union, and the worker. In almost every negotiation, I've seen the union trade things that would have benefited the worker for things that benefited the union. Criminal really.

+1000000 and I worked in the public sector. There is an inherent conflict of interest in ELECTED public officials negotiating those contracts. Those contracts should, SOMEHOW, be negotiated or ratified by citizen, as in taxpayer committees.

Why wouldn't the union protect the kid's pay rate instead of extorting $ out of him?

What they are demanding doesn't make any sense.

They should have calculated his pay rate and factored in their charges and realized it doesn't help the kid before making their demands.

I bet they don't even realize how much he makes and the economic turmoil their demands would create.

It's simple math.

How could this be good for anyone?

They should have just sent him their business card and an offer of support for him as a new worker in the USA in case he needs anything....no charge!

That would be helping instead of the negativity they created.

Doesn't anyone use common sense anymore?

That is really really stupid......how do they expect any worker to react when they expect them to lose money on the job.

Wow.........this should be illegal.

It's like robbery.

As well as stupidity.....

When I was on a management team negotiating with the Police Union, the City Council interfered and gave the Police benefits that we had negotiated OUT of the proposed agreement. Elected officials do not give a rats ass about anything other then what causes their elected asses the least amount of work and the best chance for re-election. The City Council knew that the ill effects of the give aways would not show up on their watch. That attitude is now and has been coming to roost in California over the past 5 years. It started 20 years ago by derelict elected officials being lazy.

Yes, they could use a lesson in sales.

Terrible strategy to win over the work force.

Very ignorant approach....

Good point. So, the Union's actions prevent payment of minimum wage?

Danimal16 12-29-2013 03:25 PM

Better Yet, why don't the minimum wage/non-benefits workers start a movement to de-certify the union. If the Union claims its purpose is to protect the worker, the Union, in this case, is not doing that. It is simple math for that class of worker. Minimum wage workers opt out, UNLESS the minimum pay rate is at least Minimum Wage plus the Union Dues. If not that, de-certify.

He wants no part of a union job. Being fired from his first job was an eye opener. He asked me a question I wasn't really able to answer; "If my job is paid at the minimum wage allowed by law and the compulsory union dues drop my salary below that level isn't that a violation of the minimum wage law?"

Smart kid. Just graduated with a degree in economics.

Smart kid indeed. Gonna go places- some zombies would've just eaten it. And they wonder why they're always strapped....

Yes I agree , and that's one of the examples I'd bring up as far as where they are useful and needed. Another where big cities and other municipalities, in order to save a few $$, attempt to close stations and cut back on staffing apparatus sufficiently which is a serious safety issue . But on the other hand, I despise when that same union protects some POS that deserves to be fired or punished for a legitimate issue.

Chocaholic 12-29-2013 06:03 PM

And it seems Black 73 is arguing against something that no one suggested. Hating union workers. No one hates union workers. The issue here is the unions themselves. Regardless of union membership, a slacker is a slacker and doesn't deserve their job. Especially when there are hard workers waiting in line to "earn" their paycheck.

Not only have you arbitrarily twisted this discussion into a racist scenario (which it is not), but also misrepresented the premise of this discussion.

We are not in PARF, please don't push it there. Sheesh.
