getting water up into a tree
So here in Sunny and Warm Florida, it is supposed to hit the 20s Monday night and stay that way for 8+ hours.
A few years ago, I was able to put a mister head on a hose and get it up into a tree so it would create awesome iceicles and a little "snow" around the base of the tree. Used a 20' piece of bamboo, was able to get the hose head up to the top w/ no problem. Still have the tree, but it is much taller now. Tried last night and couldn't get teh hose up much higher than 20' - bamboo bent over too much. And, the hose head I was using wasn't producing a mist. So... ideas on how I can get a mist of water going 35-40' up in a tree. Tree is too thin for my fat ass to climb, I don't have or want a cherry picker or a ladder tall enough to do it. I'm thinking 8' sections of small diameter PVC, put a hook on the top piece to keep putting it on a branch as I go up more. Put a piece up, connect the next one using a slip joint and pvc glue, and on and on and on. Mister will be a head from an in-ground watering system. Water fed from my well pump, so pressure isn't an issue especially with a skinny water column Will this work? Got a better way? The kids really enjoyed it last time I did it, I'd like to do it again for them. Would like to keep budget under $75. Keeping the pipe system up in the tree all year is no issue for me Thanks!

I would think the PVC will bend worse than the bamboo. You may have to climb half way and then use the bamboo again.

Guess I could use a smaller tree, but this one is perfectly placed and of a fast growing invasive species so if I end up killing it no big deal.
