Calling all helicopter engineers.

I have a idea..
.Not,... smart enough to see whats wrong with it...maybe we could market it...
Its simple.
Maybe its too stupid
Maybe its too purrfect.
We all need one.....well i do !... LOL
Perhaps PM me
I will be slow getting back today....but good the rest of the week.
Thanx!

I know a guy, who knows a guy...

afterburn 549 01-06-2014 07:51 AM

I used to know a guy...LOL

FLYGEEZER 01-06-2014 07:53 AM

I know a couple of guys and neither of them know anything about helicopters.

BRPORSCHE 01-06-2014 07:59 AM

Fresh out here. Come back tomorrow.

bell 01-06-2014 08:18 AM

I know 5 guys..... they make killer cheeseburgers. ..

afterburn 549 01-06-2014 08:53 AM

OK.everyone go play else where

Seahawk 01-06-2014 10:17 AM

PM if you need help.

I really do know a few guys and gals that can judge your idea fairly.

Aero folks, material science folks, etc.

We'll sign the right stuff if needed, NDA's, non-competes, etc.

Be advised, they are harsh: They call it the "wheel of aero misfortune" when it comes to new lift and drag ideas: There is no upsidasium.

afterburn 549 01-06-2014 10:22 AM

OK,
Thanx!
i just can not figure why it has never been done (to my knowledge )
It seems like a no brainier.....i must have missed something..it would get rid of
6 pullies , 5 or more bearings, a whole bunch of belts and add a drive shaft to T/R

Yeh, the plane has already been invented!

You have no clue

im not a helicopter engineer, but I am an ME and spent several years flying RC helicopters which have similar tail mechanics. I also deal with IP frequently and one thing I have learned is there is a pretty good chance some one has already thought of it for simple mechanical things.

Okie dokie

red-beard 01-06-2014 01:57 PM

I have to admit no expertise in this particular area...

This isn't like the discovery that there are fake PayPals, is it?

Flieger 01-06-2014 05:34 PM

Is a V-22 not able to yaw in-place, then? Or do they have puffer ducts like a Harrier? Tail-rotors are a drag for efficient cruise but nice for maneuvering. Would be even better if you had twin, counter-rotating rotors to cancel the torque so you could yaw just as well in either direction.

I always thought the NOTAR was cool.

Osprey should be able to yaw with differential torque in the two engines. I'm not sure if they do that though

Good point. But that would couple the yaw and roll like wing dihedral. Maybe by varying the pitch of the props so that they have equal lifting power but one putting out more torque? But that doesn't sound like something a turbine engine would do- more like a piston engine.
