Global "Chilling"

-8 F this morning in NW Ohio. Snow Day off from work!!! Tonight it is forecast to hit -17 which is very close to an all time record low for this part of Ohio. Most businesses and all schools are shut down due to 10" of snow last night. I love the snow, but the 40 mph wind gusts coupled with the sub zero temps made plowing drifts this morning almost brutal.

Sub zero again tomorrow then back up in the teens for Weds. I am guessing I won't be playing on the snowmobile until then. After several crappy winters with little snow, it is nice to finally have "real" winter back thanks to global "chilling".

Beautiful winter scene looking out my hangar window this morning.

It's cold in Michigan too, just spent 10-15 minutes outside, felt it was dangerous to do more.

On the opposite side of the world (Global - winter somewhere, summer somewhere else):

I'm down near Findlay, Ohio, and was actually able to get the ole diesel Superduty started this morning and make it to work, they decided to close up shop about lunch time, so I came home. About 200 yds beyond my driveway, some young girl (nurse going to work) tried to ramp her Dodge Caliber over a drift and promptly high centered it. I and another guy worked on digging her out for about 1/2 hour till another guy showed up and we were able to push her out.

OMG, even with a facemask, full carharts, gloves and layers, that f'ing wind cut right through me. It's currently -10 degrees with 30-40mph winds so figure -40 windchill on a sunny day.

Its wicked. The wind just burns. I was just out salting the driveway. We only got a dusting of snow here in C-bus.

Hell is actually freezing over tonight. It will be below 30 degrees for over 12 hours. Doom is here!

I got up this morning and had a cup of coffee. Scientists immediately blamed that action on global warming.

Jeez even Time magazine doesn't bother to fricken fact check any more. Seriously... Journalism is DEAD.

The polar vortex is nothing new.... This is NOT a new atmospheric phenomena as a polar vortex ALWAYS exists at the polar regions of earth, but a piece of the main vortex has broken off and is being sent southward by the jet stream. Also nothing new.

I just laugh. First it was "global warming". Then "climate change" and now "Its colder because it's warmer..."

200 years of temp history is a nanosecond in the global temp cycles of this planet.

You should try actually READING some time!

The claim is that CHANGES in the polar vortex, caused by global warming, are causing the unusual storms.

Do you get your talking points from Tesoro like sammy does?

Chris, just ban him and get it over with (both log-in ID's). Anything else having to do with him is just a waste of effort.

Nope. Got family member who was a top egghead at NOAA for 40 years, another who is a well respected geologist, grandfather a physicist, and through actually coming to my own conclusions byreading, speaking, and thinking.

...but then you have *internet* facts so I guess I must be crazy. :-)

it was 57 here today, which is ridiculous for January. now it's cold, supposed to be in the teens tomorrow.

When I lived in MN, we cut wood in -10 to -20 windchild, not a big deal. Had to in -70 windchill once, 10 minutes outside, 20 minutes inside was all you could do.

Us Canadians are having a good chuckle, I love the "it's minus 10F but with the windchill it's -61F"

It was -23F Sunday, we went tobogganing...
