Got to it Monday (I work Saturdays and Sundays is designated Church/football day)
Upon close examination (and your observations) hinges didn't seem to close flush... so I plan a trip to home depot for new hinges and 3" screws. Seeing as I had nothing to lose I removed the top hinge, took it down to the garage, tortured it in a vice and beat on it with a hammer until it did close flush, and found some three inch drywall screws I had kicking around the garage. Ran upstairs and installed reconditioned hinge with drywall screws and BAM! Door works fine, ran to home depot and got some 3" brass screws. put a touch of wood glue on them and replaced the drywall screws. Hopefully that will hold while save up for a new door. Thanks for all the help/advice! SmileWavy |
