Is this another social experiment??

Have to agree with everyone else here! Whether its his business or his hobby, I've found him equally gracious. Hoping for the day that takes me out his way to get a chance to meet in person.SmileWavy

[QUOTE=70SATMan;7849366]Is this another social experiment??

:)

Nope. I'm not trying to change anyone's behavior, just giving a shout out for a nice gesture. And hey, Shaun, about that RSR speedometer . . .

Trekkor, Shaun has made a few comments I have had problems with too (though, in retrospect, I was wrong and he was right). That's not the point.

My cousin, who was like a little brother to me, was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in September. He described himself as "to the Right of Atilla the Hun," and he was. While we fought like cats and dogs over politics, and it got pretty ugly at times, it never diminished our relationship one bit. And he was a guy who would get up at 3AM to help someone in need. Regardless of their politics.

I like to see myself as that kind of guy.

I know Shaun is that kind of guy.

the little 'dog' & I often disagree...:D
big fan of Ghengis myself..
while back I followed a thread on guitars & music for a bit....
turns out..
he's a good guy who has a different view or opinion..
we will joust again...
but I will use a rubber hammer ;)

Yep Shaun is and will always be a great guy. He sent me an email years ago "forwarded" back to me from My 7 year old daughter...He was being kind enough to tell me my daughter going places on the net that I was unaware of. Long story...

Class act...:)

That was a joke (green font) because he's accused of conducting "social experiments" in PARF all the time.SmileWavy

I'm constantly surprised by Trek's sensitivity levels.

I owe the guy a steak dinner...been trying to avoid Boston for years because of it!

(He is a great guy...)

Shaun is indeed a great guy. A fine cook too.

Love Banksy, who apparently knows a little Aesop.

Terry that is part of it, but it goes deeper than that. Its how you treat people and show respect. I'll bet many of us have had colleagues who turned out in another job to be a boss, a client or a competitor. I've had a few colleagues who have been on the other side of the table in merger and acquisitions, and as expert witnesses on the other side. At the end of the day, all you have is your good name, reputation and integrity. You can't survive in the legitimate business world without those, even in today's World.

You're right, I only know you from your sad posts outlining the sad feelings concerning Shaun's internet posts.

Why do you assign such importance to comments over the internet? You could say anything, and I mean anything about me over the internet and I wouldn't feel offended, sad or misunderstood.... That's because I'm confident n my skin.

That's why I say that I don't understand your need to air your sensitivity to some comment that Shaun might have made.

I also think you are overly sensitive to criticism. The fact that you responded to my comment only bears this out.

Please take note that I'm not trying to be a dick here or overly hard on you.

trekkor 01-10-2014 07:05 PM

I've been here for 10 years.

If I were overly sensitive I would have already left...

So, not serious enough to leave but, serious enough to complain.

What pray tell was the comment that was so terrible as to make you bring it up?

Just being honest...

I think it has to do with the concept of 'toast etiquette' in that when someone declears a person to be of upstanding position and outstanding valour and others agree, one should remain mute or provide sufficant alcolades as well...anything less than a compliment shall be faced with ridicule and scorn...seriously. Its social convention and what have you.

madcorgi 01-10-2014 07:40 PM

OK, I suggest we close this out on a high note. Shaun did a very nice thing for me. I complimented and thanked him publicly. Others joined in.

Let's stop now.

Well, I do give Trek the nod for speaking his mind about what he feels. I go against the grain many times myself so the idea of remaining mute because of social convention doesn't carry much weight with me. If I have a consenting opinion and I feel I need to fight against the tide and speak out, I will. However, I realize that in doing so, I must be able to back up my statements with more than hurt feelings.

Bottom Line,,,,

Shaun's a great guy in my book even though we've never met. He goes out of his way to make contact with people who move him in some way and that is a true indication of the humanity in the man.

Heck, I'm in love,,,, There, I said it.;):D
