Hawks chase animals down, and use their bare talons. Can we cut them a loophole??

A better example would be a species of freshwater fish (tropical??) - it is the only known example of a non-primate that is able to use action at a distance -- it squirts water at perching bugs to knock them into the water so it can eat them.

So the hawk that picks a field mouse out of the grass to the complete surprise of the mouse is not a real hunter?

Mice know that once they are out of their hole it's game on. Ever seen a mouse in the wild just walking along without a care in the world like a lion? No. They run like fcuk everywhere.

If your prey knows you are hunting it, you're really not much of a hunter.

Only one picture shows someone who was close to their prey, and in danger of it.

Only one picture shows the solemnity due the event.

Only one pictures shows the blood of the animal.

Only one picture shows a hunter.

How does any of this change the fact that both lions are dead?

Besides, you don't stalk an African lion, and I am pretty sure that you don't stalk a mountain lion either.

Lion kills are short-range shots almost without exception.

Blood is always cleaned up as far as possible for photos, at least where I hunt. You cannot infer anything from the presence or absence of blood on the hunter/animal.
