24 hours Daytona
I was thinking of going this year, but all the infield parking is sold out, and I would like to get infield for all 4 days. So, whats the alternative? I dont want yo walk in all the time to see the race, so tell me what is the best thing to do.

I'm thinking the same thing. Don't know what camping outside the track means for accessibility to getting in the infield.
Anyone know?

I'm going this year for the first time. Who can provide some details on what to expect? Tell me more about infield vs walk-in, etc... What are the do's and don't's?
Thanks, JA

I camped outside the track last year. I won't do that again. You have to walk pretty far to the gate. There are trams, but you need to figure out their stops and schedule. Plus, you cannot see anything when you are not inside...you can hear it just not see it. It is not an ideal way to experience Daytona.

Me too, sounds like Sebring will be the way to go. Warmer, friendly, better viewing.

Kinda sucks as I wanted to see the first race of the new series. Maybe it will rain and be cold as crap and I won't second guess my decision while I'm watching it on TV.
Will it be on TV? Anyone know?

Same situation here...ordered 4 day pass but found out limited infield parking was sold out, even "inside" contacts could help. Not the first time this has happened, won't let it bother me. Parking outside turn 4 is not so bad, trams will be running frequently, I'll take in a backpack with essentials. I might even bring a bike, just need to get to our RV site at exit of horseshoe turn
Should we make this the "official" thread? I want to meet up with some Pelicans!

I rarely seem to make the 24 of Daytona, even when I lived in FL...seems to always sneak up on me and I am typically wiped out from the holidaze. I normally can catch Sebring, VIR, and Road Atlanta. And once again, I think I will have to pass...

I'll be at rv spots 42-43 with friends.......
Will be there Thursday evening til Sunday. .... This year sold out quick, like in early October. There are locals selling infield parking passes for $300+....kinda silly, but imo infield is where it's at...... |

G'day!

Are you telling me that this year unless you have already purchased a ticket you will not be able to drive inside?
You won't even be able to buy just an infield ticket for one day only? Really?!? That's ridiculous...... Well the LMP1 Porsche won't be competing in this event - right? So guess I'll just have to fly to France - where they know how to run a race event!

OK I just checked (online ticket purchase) and looks like you can get a 2 day pass for $40.00 or just Sunday for $30.00 - both of which grant access to grandstands and infield.
But no overnight camping, I guess. So that's not a bad deal - same as always pretty much.

We went last year. Parked outside of turn one and took the tram inside. Had a great time. As mentioned, the infield is where it's at.

Is there any good Porsche parts dealers near Daytona Beach.
Or other dont miss "Porsche places" while you’re there.

Check out the Grass Roots Motorsports Magazine tent, it sounds pretty nice with a lot of perks.

so what is the big difference in the GT classes now with the merger?
looks like bascially GT3 specs in both classes, just the GTLM class is for factory efforts, and the other GT class is for what used to be GTE/GTC customer/one make series cars? |
