"I dream of wires".
A documentary about early music synthesizers/computers in the 1960's onwards which resulted in the shaping of today's music sound (autotune/techno/effects/etc). A lot of names like west coast Buchla vs east Moog and things I've never heard of. Started in the same office after the Manhattan Project left. |
Just starting........on SyFy Channel......"Mad Max - Fury Road"!

Saw "The Judge"
(Robert Downey Jr, Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jeremy Strong, Dax Shepard, and Billy Bob Thornton) Considering the cast it should have been good but truly an awful movie. Vera almost makes it worth watching! http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1500424561.jpg |
Today was the official release of "No Mans Land" on Blu Ray in case you were one of the anxious people waiting on it.

TCM recently aired "The Lion in Winter" with Peter O'Toole, Kate Hepburn, Timothy Dalton, and Anthony Hopkins--definitely recommended.
I also caught "All is Lost" with Robert Redford--very good film. Unfortunately, also recently watched "Passengers"---good premise, terrible film. |

Hadn't heard of "All is Lost' but will look for it - thanks, Eric! Quote:

Wow... I always thought this scene was legit.
How Charlie Chaplin accomplished the roller skating stunt in "Modern Times" - Album on Imgur But truthfully, I'm not disappointed... I think this is just as amazing. I've been aware of matte painting for a long time... just never knew it was used in this scene. For those who want to know more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matte_painting |
One positive during the power outage is I got to watch some DVD's I hadn't seen since I bought them. I have a generator so did have limited power enough to run fridge, AC, a fan, and a few small electronic devices including my TV and a portable DVD player.
The first movie I watched was........(and it was VERY good!)..... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505271821.JPG I also have a large surf movie collection....:p http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505271901.JPG |
I watched this the other day. It was very good, entertaining and fun. It's a less serious, funny comic book version of something like James Bond.
<iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/kl8F-8tR8to" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> I also watched <iframe width="853" height="480" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tKF390MNM7k" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe> |
One of my favourite George Kennedy movies.......this is a great scene. Trapper John too!

Heading out with some friends on Sunday to see Steven King's "IT".....should keep us on the edge of our seats.

Documentary about Kurt Cobains death and the suspicious circumstances all pointing to psycho blondie wife.
Soaked in Bleach (2015) - IMDb He was going to divorce her but then suddenly overdoses in Rome. Not an attempt according to everyone around. She is nothing but self absorbed and sketchy at best. Suicide note looks faked and all the suicide references originate from her. Hmm. In fact everything looked positive except for her and another divorce and rewriting of his will(tens of millions worth) was in the works. Physical evidence shows existing levels of heroin are fatal and he'd be passed or dead at time of shooting. Very damning slips of tongue recorded by the PI. Police and media competency level equals zero ought to all have been fired. |

I think it was well done, certainly different. I'm pretty sure you need to be in Canada to watch it online, maybe it's on some cable stations and will have a rebroadcast date. |
