Something different and surprising. Stellar cast and I've always liked Hillary Swank.

Thanks, Peter......I like her too....and anything with TLJ is good!

Baz 04-08-2021 06:53 PM

Gregory Peck. Now there's an actor!

1961's "The Guns of Navaronne" - also starring David Niven and Anthony Quinn.

Just ended on TCM.

I've seen it a bunch of times but it's such a great movie I have no problem watching it again each time it airs.

Fast Freddy 944 04-09-2021 12:30 AM

I dig the classics, I saw the original "Flight of the Phoenix", and "The good bad and the ugly" 2 really well made films, well acted, and an absolute joy to watch, compaired to recent cg animated strange movies..Gotta love the classics!

flipper35 04-09-2021 09:43 AM

Yeah, I liked it when they had actual acting and a plot and real explosions, not just large CGI explosions.

Joe Bob 04-09-2021 05:29 PM

True Appaloosa?

Baz 04-10-2021 04:41 PM

"Hud" on TCM. Started at 8pm. Fantastic! As always....commercial free......

Baz 04-11-2021 02:30 PM

007 in "Skyfall" on BBC America. Just started.

Whitehouse down. Over the top story with over the top action and over the top acting. Not a great movie but it is watchable and better than a lot of TV on a Sunday night.

Baz 04-14-2021 08:40 AM

"An Officer and a Gentleman" on Sundance right now. Legendary flick!

Just watched last night. Good movie. Recommend.

Seahawk 04-17-2021 05:32 PM

Just watched “The Hundred-Foot Journey”.

Good, very good, not great but so worth the time in an era of movies about sea monsters and cartoon superheroes.

https://youtu.be/MWo67uhzoQg

The Homesman tomorrow.

Agree with you completely. A couple of scenes sort of ruined the movie for me, though.

They don't censor anything on IFC! :p

Also on last night from 1970 Richard Harris in "A Man Called Horse" - one of the greatest movies ever made.

The ending was unreal.......

^^^ I saw it when it came out...and a couple times later. Great movie!

Baz 04-20-2021 05:43 PM

"American Pie 2" on IFC. Followed by the first one.

Laughing my butt off!

john70t 04-21-2021 07:55 AM

There was a rather unnoticed 2019 remake of 1976 Midway. Some big actor names are in it.
2 1/4 hrs of easy popcorn watching and was historically accurate to a degree.

It should have been twice as long to really tell the story right. Watched it twice for it to make sense.

Campy Hollywood scenes, unrealistic .cgi physics and perspective, ultra-bright colors, droll music which uses only french horn and tomtom drum, confusing and similar-looking actors, a script which covered too many events with too many characters, and a general lack of clarity were drawbacks but it was still a fun movie.

stevej37 04-21-2021 05:59 PM

Mark Wahlberg in 'Spenser Confidential'....a good cop movie on Netflix.

A new sci-fi Netflix movie that is worth watching. Anna Kendrick

^ thanks, Steve!

Watched the ending of "Vision Quest" tonight. I was channel surfing and it was on Fox Sports 1!

Such a great movie. A cult classic! I have the DVD.

I haven't kept up on this thread, but it seems there is some aspect of adding new up and coming films.

Just stumbled across this one. If you're like some of the members of Pelican OT, you'll talk trash and mention how cool and independent you are...but if you're the type of Pelican like ME, then this film will flip EVERY FREAKING SWITCH.

<iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/tI1JGPhYBS8" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Zombies. Vegas overrun by Zombies, and they let it go...wall it off, let it burn. Then, someone wants the cash in a vault under the building in the city overrun by zombies, so they call in a rag-tag group of mercs to get it out. Guns, flames, zombies, Vegas, jokes, Dave Bautista, and a sub-species of zombies that are intelligent and social. Why would you NOT want to watch that movie on a Saturday afternoon?

sc_rufctr 04-23-2021 12:53 AM

^^^ WOW... That looks great!

stevej37 04-23-2021 08:48 AM

I've seen enough zombie movies to last me another lifetime.
But of all of them...this one, I thought was done the best.

Vantage Point. POTUS is at a word summit in Spain. Shots are fired and a bomb goes off. All shown from the points of view of several people. So much is going on I had to watch it twice when it came out a few years ago . Really worth watching.

Yes! A zombie movie so good people who dislike zombie movies will like it.

Here’s hoping Hollywood doesn’t do a remake like they did with Old Boy and Ghost in the Shell!

Enjoyed it. Very good cast.

Thanks for the tip.

Watched "Nomadland" last night (Best Oscar winner)

My wife and I watched it, and it was very, very......…. Well, ya know. Couldn't wait to see it. Shouda went to bed instead, or hid in the shed, or visited Fred.

"Grand Prix" on cable right now. Possibly the best racing movie ever made?
