The Redcoat Is Home!!!

My brother-in-law and I picked up the TR6 today. It was a nice 3 hour drive,(one way), through rural Georgia heading south to Thomasville. Mr. Flowers had given me a code to the gate at the property where the car was located and told me to go ahead and load her up. We did just that and were just about finished chaining her down when Mr Flowers arrived. It didn't take long to load the car, thankfully the winch worked well and the car rolls and steers excellently. We spent a little time looking at all the great cars that Mr. Flowers has and that was really cool. He showed us a couple of TR3s a TR4 IRS, a really nice TR6, a TR8, a MGBGT, and a Jeepster Commando, as well as another TR6 that was inside a trailer and was all in pieces but was ready to be put back together. It was a great day to be alive for sure!!! We headed on back to Opelika and I have the car temporarily stored inside a building that my brother-in-law owns. I am hoping to get started assessing things this weekend!!! The Redcoat is home!!!

It will certainly be a labor of love restoring this car back to its former glory.

Thanks. She's a bit rough and needs a lot of love but I am glad to have her back. One nice thing I noticed, she has new wheels and tires.

I love this image. An old British car in an empty quanset hut, speaks to me of years gone by.

Nice! Please keep us posted. She has a nice even patina to the paint, I would consider leaving it alone for a while.

Outstanding. I believe you said that it included a spare fender, right, or was that a spare door or both?

Thanks y'all. I will definitely post updates for sure. The car came with an extra driver's side fender and a replacement door for the passenger side. The door is actually in the trunk!!! I opened the trunk and there it was!!! I haven't checked out the door yet. The replacement fender isn't in the best shape and I may not even use it. I will see if I can repair the dent in the original fender first and then go from there. I'm going to get started assessing things this weekend and will definitely post updates so, stay tuned!!!

Thanks, I like that picture also. I should put the spoiler back on and maybe drop the top and take another picture. Lol.

Great news on the door. If it's rust free, that's fantastic. I hate fixing that kind of rust. Based on the photos, it looks like the only issue with the fender is the dent just behind the headlight. I'm not a body guy, but that looks (to a non-expert) like something that could be fixed, especially since front fenders are usually relatively easily removed.

Nice, man. That fender dent is nothing. Just use your best PDR method that you can summon and it probably won't need any filler, just some sanding primer.

I'm guessing the extra door is because of rust? I sees some at the lower passenger side but what's new? 911's do that and the fix isn't bad. I'd rather work with an original door with decent gaps than replace. If not original or ill fitting, off it goes.

Garage
Am I the only one here that wants to take a leaf blower and broom to that hut?

What a cool work space that is if it can be made secure.
