Recent trip to Palm Springs....

Stayed at the Best Western Palm Springs and played some golf at the Indian Canyons Golf Resort. Not cheap($125 )and the rental clubs were $65! Next time I am taking my own clubs.

Best Western had some good points and some not so good but at $100/night could not expect too much. Too many comings and goings from a 60 yo woman next door. Frequent visitors throughout the night - old h--ker or drug dealer? My wife said hello to her and she just grunted!

Breakfast was good - waffles and lots of everything else. Cold food etc.

Good hikes in close vicinity. Best restaurant overall was the Kaiser Grill. Happy hour deals on food, beer, wine etc. Excellent pea soup and same as last year.Must have the same chef? Happy hour pizza price for a Marg. pizza $7! Great prime rib and pork chop on the bone.

Rented a Toyota Corolla 2014 with 130 miles on it. Had asked for a Camry though but was charged less. It did everything well, great air cond., nice riding car for a small car.

Gotta drag my wife out to Palm Springs one of these days (she has never been).

I used to make an annual pilgrimage back when they had the VARA races.

Did you get a chance to go up the Aerial Tramway?
Palm Canyon hike?

Glad you like it BTW. Did you fly into Palm Springs?

We flew into Palm Springs directly from Edmonton , Alberta and it takes 3 hours.

We did not take the Aerial Tramway but drove to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park and did a couple of hikes there.

The high viewpoint of Palm Springs is taken from the South Lycken Trail.

We had a very good trip and give the whole trip a 9 out of 10.
Guy.

I've used these guys before. Nice accommodations (2 BR condo) and you pick your courses for golf, decently priced.

Joshua Tree was a great idea. A favorite of mine for 30 + years. Headed back there in February.

Sorry to hijack - I'm always pushing Joshua Tree! From hiking to bouldering to rock climbing to star gazing.

Only 3 hours? That's good. My cousins were thinking about a retirement home in Palm Springs. They are from Calgary and are tired of the cold. They love PS. The tram is worth the trip and it makes no difference if its summer or winter.

Palm Springs is great in winter in terms of weather but of course in summer it is fiercely hot. Some folks that are from Canada own a condo or house in Palm Springs and let it sit empty in summer. Some rent. There are still lots of properties for sale. We do not believe in multiple property ownership except if it is on our area.

We look forward to going back because of the weather. If you are in your 60's you will be quite young there....
