Heated Seats ia a Honda Ridgeline

Took our new Honda Ridgeline to the dealer because the passenger side heated seat was only working on the bottom cushion not on the back of the seat as both (bottom and back ) on the drivers side. I get a call from the service writer stating according to the wiring diagram the passenger side only has a heated bottom where as the driver side has both. Dealer said no charge and I could pick it up as it just came out of the car wash. I am happy with everything but have you ever herd of a auto maker only heating the bottom of one seat? I know some of you will have to go out and check your rides. The service Department did not know about this either.

Looks like they were trying to save a few pennies....

Passenger heated seat question???? [Archive] - Honda Ridgeline Owners Club Forums

edit: Seems it has to do with Honda/Acura's proprietary airbag sensor system in the passenger seat.

This defines the term "First-world problem"

In my country (Canada) I consider heated seats as manditory. I find this fact really fascinating.

Bought a 2009 Maxima slightly used. Awesome car. We wanted leather/heated seats, had them added. We were told the passenger side would be "back heat only".

The explanation we got was that the passenger side airbag seat sensor was in the way of adding the heating element to the passenger side seat.

Last fall I test drove a '99 911 at the Porsche dealership with the driver's seat only having a heated seat. The passenger seat had none and the heat control on the driver's side was next to the power controls for the seat. Obviously an aftermarket effort.

Heated seats are really needed in our part of the world especially leather seats. As my Boxster was originally a lottery car(me the 3rd owner)the only option it has are heated seats....

BMW seems to have overcome this 'hurdle' many years ago and their seat and back areas are both heated, driver / passenger........with an occupancy sensor.

We're getting the Arctic blast, too. It is supposed to dip into the 50s tonight, so I'll need to wear socks to bed and use two blankets!

I also have a bad back from a car wreck 23 years ago and the heat feels nice when it is sore and tight.

A couple of years before I bought my Boxster I came across a Boxster with no heated seats in Edmonton. I could not believe a Boxster would have leather seats and not heated. As you say Bob they are mandatory.
