A man with his priorities straight!

"It was so time consuming that he eventually dropped out of college to focus fully on the project."

BlueSkyJaunte 01-20-2014 02:23 PM

He'll go far.

Half the steps he took did not seem to accomplish anything.
Paste thing onto plane.
Remove thing from plane.

gordner 01-20-2014 02:36 PM

I thought the same but I guess that was all masking for an application of clear paint? Seems odd to me to go to all that effort and end up with a livery you can only see in indirect light?

RWebb 01-20-2014 02:37 PM

How much weight did he save on that airframe?

sc_rufctr 01-20-2014 04:46 PM

The damn guy must be crazy... But I appreciate the effort it took.

cstreit 01-20-2014 05:00 PM

...so you dedicate 5 years of your life to this... ...and end up with what?

mikesride 01-20-2014 05:00 PM

Sure, but how far will it FLY???

widgeon13 01-20-2014 05:04 PM

I knew a guy who flunked out of Notre Dame because he got so into Bridge.

What a waste.

FLYGEEZER 01-20-2014 07:16 PM

Dane Bramage again!

pavulon 01-20-2014 07:39 PM

"mad envelope skillz" looks kinda odd on most job applications.

herr_oberst 01-20-2014 07:47 PM

That is cool as hell.

Check out the thrust reversers and the hatch mechanisms.

This meticulously crafted 777-replica is made of manila folders

rattlsnak 01-20-2014 09:32 PM

that is insane!!

aigel 01-20-2014 09:49 PM

Can anyone explain that paint job? Clear with white emblems / writing?

Dropping out of college for this is nuts. Could have found a summer job as a model builder for an architecture company instead. In 5 years from now, a guy can hit the print button on his 3D printer and be done in under an hour.

I don't have a lot of respect for model building overall. Especially if it is something that's not functional.

Especially building HUNDREDS of friggen seats, same one after the other for years, you have to be insane!

Why knock the artist? I'm glad there's crazy's like this in the world.

Love it! And that vid on the thrust reversers... neat. Thanks for sharing the post -

aigel 01-20-2014 10:39 PM

I don't think of it as art. Maybe I should.

I wonder how many manilla folders it took.

Mad skills, but how the heck did he support himself during all of this? Wish I had the time & money to fk around like this when I was in my 20's. Though, admittedly I wouldn't likely have done anything as cool.

Embraer 01-21-2014 12:25 AM

I bet if he doesn't have a job already, this video will get him one.

So true. The kid has talent for sure but it takes a special kind of "mind" to do this.
