Question about routers

My linksys is 12 years old and my wireless report shows a a weak signal, is it time for a newer version?

My Porter-Cable has been running fine for years.

Mine quit after just 5 years. I don't think it was a Linksys though. Who is your ISP? These days I think they give the integrated modem/router out.

12 years old?

It's a b router.

Not surprised you're having netflix issues.

Get a new router, keep that one though.

If you have new wifi devices, laptop, tablet, smartphone they are likely n, if you mix older b/g devices that you have with the n devices on the same wifi network the fastest speed you'll see is equal to the slowest device on the network.

Meaning if you get a new n router and have b/g devices attaching to it you won't get the n speed.

Any brand recommendations?

Who is your broadband provider?

They should just give you a new one.

If your ISP does not supply and you need to buy your own here's a roundup.

Ignore the $20 one, does not do 5 GHz in case you have devices that support it.
