What do you think of the Mercedes B250...

My wife said she really liked the look of the Mercedes B250( or B200) she saw yesterday. It is a compact crossover and I believe it has a Turbo 4 cylinder.

Anybody own one or have had experience with one? Are they reliable? How good would a Mercedes warranty be? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Would look at new and used. The wife kicking tires? Amazing!

Cheers, Guy.

Funny you mentioned. Just last night spotted one at a grocery store parking lot in Chicago.

Actually, that's enough to make me run towards it. Have you owned new MB cars in recent years?

We had a B Class and it ran like clockwork for the 3 years from new we had it. Not one problem or hiccup.

There was loads of room in the back, well specced, quite thirsty but a pleasant car to drive allround.

The servicing of it was ridiculous though. Something like £400/year compared to the £150/every 2 years of our Audi A3 that replaced it. That alone made us vow to not return to MB.

Wow! In the UK, do any car manufacturers offer free routine maintenance deals for x years upon the purchase of a new car? Not necessarily the dealership, but the manufacturer itself?

Nostril seems a bit worked up but the OP question(s) are specific to model. I imagine like every new vehicle today there's piles of do this do dat servo's, wired tentacles to ones butt, las vegas diorama dashboards, etc. that in just a few model years are obsolete. Pretty much stuck going to factory authorized dealer. Most indies are lost with the new or will just make a mess of the service.

Not all MB are bad. Our 98 W210 V6 4-matic has only had a faulty fuel tank reading, replaced tires, one battery, two brake pad changes, brake fluid change, and maybe a dozen eng. oil changes. No dealer service post first dealer recommended. Turn key rock solid reliability.

Not too sure. Some of the manufacturers must do, but I haven't come across it on any purchases we have made.

I've just ordered a Mitsubishi and they do a fixed price £600 for 3 years servicing which I think is still quite high.

The US is miles ahead of the UK in terms of customer service. I think Mitsubishi offer a 10 year drivetrain warranty in the US, whereas its only 3 years in the UK for example.

I can only agree. Our '13 C300 is a great car. 7 months in with zero problems & a good drive. But like ALL modern Euro cars, I would not own it out of warranty.

My 02 203 has been bullet proof. Lost one ac compressor and it eats bulbs but that has been in 150k. I would buy another on in a heartbeat, and you risk losing a hand trying to get the keys from my wife.
