Lone Survivor

WOW! Excellent, Powerful, Moving, Inspirational. Words can not define what these men endured, lived and died for. EVERYONE should see this movie regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the war. Hero's all.

As I posted earlier, I would strongly suggest reading the book before you see the movie to see how close it was made. Also Marcus is in quite a few scenes but no one mentions it.

I apologize I didn't see your thread but I would agree on reading the book. I did a Google search to see how accurate the movie was. It seems pretty close. I only know his face from recent TV interviews but thought I saw Marcus in there a few times.

Yes a powerful movie. My GF kept grabbing my friggin' leg.
One pet peeve I have with movie theaters now a days is the HIGH volume. I said before the movie started that it would be a loud one with the subject being what is was. And man was it loud. I don't get it.

Watched this over the weekend. Great movie. Leaving the theater the ambiance was similar to leaving a funeral - which I think this movie really was.

My son has big plans for his military career. He's a High School junior very active in the JROTC program there. He has talked about trying out for special forces but since this movie has admitted he doubts he would measure up. Luckily he's old enough now to understand percentages and fall back options.

The movie was really loud but to great effect. Highly recommended.

I would bet the loudness was to make the viewers feel what AK and AR gun shots are like with no hearing protection. Note that two of the rifles had suppressors and two did not. At our range we get a few military shooters who have suppressors and they are amazingly quiet, the bolt cycling makes as much noise as the fired round. We also get some flyers now and then and they sound just like those in the movie I felt also.

Just got home from seeing it. Very good movie - and loud, also.
.
Thought they could have casted someone other than an aging and bloated Mark Wahlberg.
But quite moving, otherwise...and realistic.
Fiance clinched my hand and arm throughout the movie.
.
Same thing...no one left until the credits ran out.

I think Walberg gained wieght for the movie. If you look at photos of Marcus from the same time he doesnt look like what most would expect for a SEAL. Lots of misconceptions out there about what these guys look like. They are not all 6'4" with 4% body fat.

I have read the book and can't wait to see the movie.

Both my son and I read the book and watched the movie. We thought both were outstanding! Those guys are badasses and I'd be happy to go downrange with any of them. I left the theater speechless and my back was tense from the non-stop action.

We have our operators gain weight at times if they will be remote for a while.

We saw it today.

It was a powerful movie. The end with the photos of the real heroes is very moving.

Thank you to all that serve.
