Computer Virus? Pelican Parts?

Is anyone getting an Avast Virus Warning when trying to access Pelican Parts message board articles via a google search. I simply get hit with a virus warning everytime I try to look at an thread and get a white page saying access is blocked.

Does the same on 3 computers I've tried.

I can log in to the forum no problem through the main page.

Anyone else notice this?

Here's the details of the message...

I had a warning from my anti-virus last Friday. It blocked the virus.

It happened just the one time. I figured it was one of the ads.

red-beard 02-06-2014 01:15 PM

I think it is the ads.

Parf?

PushingMyLuck 02-06-2014 05:48 PM

Yes, getting the same Avast warnings.

I'm curious about this too, I guess I should turn off adblock and see.

Nope, No ads with adblock turned off...

Yes, Mcafee is talking at me. My speel checker don't work there either, nor do about half the videos.

I just tried the "engine porn" link and discovered that the pop up shown only appears once you reach page 53 or later of the link. Someone in the know about these things maybe able to discover something on that page and beyond. I'm tech ignorant:confused:

perhaps someone posted a link to a picture that is password protected?

You can click on the pop up (the "x" or "cancel") and it disappears without having to enter anything. Additionally, it appears as soon as you go to pg. 53 where no picture is posted. Appears that the infection (?) started on pg. 53. Seems to be harmless in that it goes away but my guess is it will appear from now on in any posts to that thread.

BTW, I've tried the other situations where people have gotten virus warnings and that has not happened to me. I use Firefox, No Scripts (set to full acceptance of PP), and Avast.

MotorWorks 02-21-2014 06:38 AM

I just started using my Mac only for Pelican Parts, works like a charm...LOL

CHICKS 02-21-2014 06:42 AM

Yep. I've gotten a virus about two weeks ago from here. I assume its from the ads and constant spammers. Welcome to Walmart of Porsche parts.

masraum 02-21-2014 07:05 AM

hmm, weird. I don't have any virii, and have never seen this odd behavior.

I guess Firefox, Adblock and no script are doing the job.

No warnings but my system does seem to have caught something. It's running real slow, getting licked off and I'm having difficult opening topics.

Thanks Wayne. For the good corporation and providing the cesspool.

[Just an FYI:]
For the past few years I've had a 'plague' of Googe/Chrome java script, which has been locking-up this computer for many many years.
Completely trashing the HD. And wasting my valuable time. Daily.

AFAIK, I shouldn't have any Google/Chrome/anything on this computer.
Only NoScript and Ghostery additions running.

But, not only on the PelicanParts website....
Even when updating MS Security Essentials with nothing running in the background.
