Cops vs pets. Puppycide

I know this was posted by someone else, and is buried over in Parf with no responses,So I apologize in advance. for reposting it here but just a topic I feel very strongly about. I know we have a lot of dog lovers on here. Beside I don't really think its PARFYy...

Hope these guys can make a difference and get some results out of this.. Something needs to be done.

PUPPYCIDE: The Documentary by Ozymandias Media — Kickstarter

Why We Began This Documentary

When we first learned about puppycide, we assumed that these must be cases of police responding to threats on their lives from dogs trained to attack by criminal owners. That couldn't be further from the truth. We found scores of videos and news stories about dogs who were laying down, tails wagging, even running away but still shot by officers who used lethal force as their first and only response.

We were very upset by the footage and stories and felt a documentary on the topic was in need. We took our cameras on the road, reaching out to victims and capturing their experiences.

We also began exploring the police perspective, which is a vital part of this story. While some incidents involve callous officers too quick with the trigger, we found the issue is much bigger than that. The lack of repercussions, policy changes, new equipment, or apologies, demonstrate how systemic this problem is. Experts have explained in interviews how police officers are not currently offered the simple training, tools, and support they need to change.

We've found countless people who don't know puppycide is going on and wish to know more about it. That is why we feel this documentary is so important, and why we need your help to tell these tragic stories in a feature length documentary so that PUPPYCIDE can reach the masses.

Just a warning.... This video was very difficult to watch. I seen it yesterday. Still cant get the images out of my head. I couldn't even make it through the whole thing. The footage is disturbing. All it did was make me rage more.

Sick to my stomach and pissed at the same time. A dog in a snare wagging it's tail shot in the head? WTF?

Yo Vinny....PARF is a huge waste of time, IMHO. Hence my thread last week. But I guess for those who want to vent - it's probably very handy. For any real discussion you have to post way over here....

I don't really want to watch the second video but I did the first and I think it's great to elevate awareness of the callous disregard to life that these thugs exhibit. I realize that most LEO's are not bad guys but there are a whole bunch of them who are major azzholes, rednecks, thugs, - whatever you want to call them.

And back to my other thread on are we becoming more stupid as a society? Uh....if we are murdering innocent animals including "Man's best friend"...well...you know the answer.

I wouldn't watch it, Baz it's graphic . It had me in tears by halfway through. Completely unwarranted murders of innocent dogs at the hand of some pussy thug cops.

I had a near miss right after getting my current little bundle of energy and muscle. A neighbor called security because my dog barked at something in the pond (likely a gator) at around 9 PM....HOA quiet hours start at 10.

The security guy came around my house without announcing himself and my dog went nuts. He placed his hand on his weapon and I politely told him that HOA rules were not probable cause for a search as he was technically, illegally, conducting once passing through the closed gate on to my property and that if he made any move I felt was threatening to myself or my dog, he'd be dead before he cleared the holster

I called the deputies out to my property in August 2012 after discovering there had been a break in at my shop. My shepherd was with me when the cop pulled into my driveway. He got out of the car and drew his pistol to shoot my dog. There was no asking me about the dog, no telling me to restrain my dog - nothing. Get out and prepare to fire. If the cop were so damned scared of the dog, why wouldn't he have stayed in his patrol car? Well there is only one answer I can arrive at; he wanted to shoot my dog.

I filed a complaint with the sheriff's dept later that week, but never heard anything of it.

They have their own protected.

I won't watch any of the vids posted, call me a pussy that's fine. Most folks here know my position on animal cruelty or should I say animal killing in general. I hang on the fact the good Lord has a place for these 'fine' folks. And I think we'll all get to pass by the window to watch their horrific suffering.

There is ABSOLUTELY no way they would get away with that at my residence. I would end up in jail, and feel justified.
We had a sheriff deputy(a friend of a friend) camping with us last year and this subject came up. Everyone turned on him. He acted as if it was a matter of normal procedure to eliminate the threat. I told him he'd better be quick because he can't shoot two things at once.

Beyond angry after watching that...

At what point do good, honest, law abiding citizens need to start protecting one another - and our pets - against these law enforcement abuses? At what point do lawfully armed Americans simply start shooting these thugs on sight?

I'm starting to see law enforcement as more or less a necessary evil. A pack of pitbulls, in essence. Vicious killers looking for an excuse, any excuse. Maybe they should be kept in a pen, a kennel, and not released except under the most dire of circumstances. And even then, kept on a very, very short leash by professional handlers. It's become clear that when allowed to run loose among us, the risks and liability are about the same. Either will eventually bite someone. That's what they do. We trade that, put up with that, for a specific purpose - because every now and then, civilized men need to let loose someone, something, with those attributes.

We should never, however, expect or allow them to police themselves. That is our duty, as their handlers. Such wanton viscousness is the norm in their ranks and, as such, they cannot realistically be expected to police it. They don't know any better. It's long past time for responsible, community based, non-police supervision and accountability for these animals.

If a cop shot my dog for no reason I would shoot him. That simple. My reaction. I had a game warden threaten my dog years ago. Never came to anything or I would not be here. I am not a "tough" guy. Just cannot tolerate some behavior.

This is a symptm of the pervasive, "Us vs Them" mentality and militarization of LEO.

Serve and Protect, yeah right.

Jesus Christ! That was so, so sad.

That traffic stop is an absolute nightmare...If they did that to my dog, they'll have to shoot me too, because I'll want to beat the f out the pos.

No....Pitbulls are naturally very loving and gentle dogs.....mine is an absolute cream puff....heck, they used to be known as nanny dogs because of their natural easy going disposition and loyalty.

That traffic stop at night was the one that did me in.

Lab trots over wagging its tail , that fat lowlife POS with a shotgun, point blank. The screams from the owners were horrifying.

From what I watched not a single one of them showed the slightest sign of aggression.
That retired cop trying to justify it , was a total dick. " We need to immediately neutralize the threat"... Bunch of cowards.

If you watch the whole thing, it's clear that the cop being interviewed is just speaking in generalities of what cops do.

He also mentions towards the end that most cops don't want to shoot dogs even though there are some bad apples with guns.

He's being asked questions and he answers them. The editor puts the soundbites where it will have an impact and make sense with the story they're telling.

As someone who edits for a living, you can make someone appear like a complete dick even if they're not.

I had the same impression when that part came up, but if you watched the whole piece (which is tough), you'll see that there's more to that guy.

I feel that his later soundbites redeems his character a bit.
