Ebay Question.....What happened?

I find a Ebay ad I'm interested in, 66 Chevy II, shiny paint, chrome is straight, 355 with a blower sticking out hood, 4 speed. There are 8 or 9 pictures, all show the right areas and are good clear pictures. The bid is up to $13,500 and reserve is $14,900. I book mark it and send the link to a buddy. Go look at it the next day and the auction had ended (ran it's time out) Final bid was $14,200 so it didn't meet reserve.

I run in to my buddy yesterday and ask if he looked at the ebay link I sent. He say no but will look tonight. This morning we meet for breakfast and he says the ad is gone. The link I sent him takes him to a ebay search page for Chevy II's but not the car I described. I go home and look and he's right. The "Auction has ended" page that the link I have saved takes me to a search page now.

I thought Ebay ads were available for a couple weeks after the auction ended? Any reasons why the ad would disappear so soon after the end of the auction?

Did you "watch" the auction or just bookmark it on your computer? Whenever I've put an auction on my watch list, if it doesn't sell, I'll usually get a "this item has been relisted" message with a link to the new auction.

I book marked the active auction. When it ended the next day I got the "This listing has ended" page. The next day it was gone. I tried searching by the item number (from the saved search header) and nothing comes up.

I checked another expired auction item number and I get "This listing has ended." with a picture of the car and the auction information. This one was from November.

Buyer made a private side deal or local sale and pulled it or it was a fraudulent sale that got taken down.

Either way you are probably better off not having been involved.

There is an option to search for finished auction results.

I do this when there may be something I want, but I feel the seller has an unrealistic reserve/buy it now, and compare asking prices that went unsold to items that actually sold.

Ebay doesn't keep auctions results up as long as they used to, but it should have the past few weeks.

I used to look at the completed auctions also but now I can't find the link in the reformatted ebay page. Can you tell me how to get to the completed auctions?

Reading this thread made me go look at Volvo P1800's, as well as look at the sold P1800's, so I can answer your question.

Its on the left, they've made it easier to find, there is a checkbox list to exclude auctions with reserves, etc. Sold listings in the main page, but you can click more refinements button, then check the completed listings to see the unsold.

No. The one I was looking at was a 66, blue and I think it had Cragar SS wheels.

No, the auction ran it's time. It was a completed auction that didn't meet the reserve.
