Reloading as a Chronic Illness...
I guess there are worse afflictions. That, and it only starts to look really bad when I line up all the calibers for which I reload, with several variations of some of them to boot. Here are one each of the current inventory:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1392494589.jpg I know several of you have the same affliction. There really is no cure. Show us what you have... |
That is quite an assortment, Jeff!
Mine: .45ACP .38 Special .30 Cal Carbine .380 Auto 9mm .32 Auto A modest group |
It appears, Jeff, the you cast most of your bullets.
|
.32 S&W Long
.380 9mm .38 Special .223 .30-30 .308 .50 12 Gauge |
Hummmm, with my muzzle loaders the reloading happens at the range.....
|
You have more big stuff than me :
38 spcl 9mm 357 mag 40 s&w 10 mm 44 mag 454 Casull 5.56 NATO 7.62 NATO/308 30-06 375 h&h 45-70 |
For some stuff you cant shoot if you dont reload
All my stuff is either rimfire, common, or has milsurp available. Id like to reload some but the calibers Id do it for I dont shoot enough to make the initial investment or space investment worthwhile |
yes it is quite fun, we are building explosive driven devices....
then you get to test them- and make them better- you just can't buy bullets that are as accurate as the ones I build for my rifle- |

i haven't purchased factory ammunition for my .308 since the first 80 rounds fired through it. my reloads are wicked accurate in my rifle. .223, same as above. i just can't bring myself to reload for shotgun. ammunition is relatively cheap and i just don't feel like i shoot it enough to make it worthwhile. |

Bullet casting is an entire hobby unto itself - I really enjoy it. Just throw a stack of CD's into the CD changer, turn on the tunes, make myself comfortable, and have at it. The resultant bullets are superior to anything we can buy for their intended applications. Plus, they are essentially free. Can't beat that. |
I also have the reloading addiction/affliction...
|
I load :
357 9MM 45 APC 243 Win 556 Nato using a Dillon 650 to do it all with Dave |
Jeff you really need to sand and re-stain that railing. Yeesh. Just sayin....
And I have a pellet gun to keep the deer out of the yard. BEWARE! |
I've never gotten into a progressive press; I've been using the same old RCBS single stage press that I bought as a teenager in one of their starter kits for darn near 40 years. It's never been about production volume for me. That, and my bullet lubes of choice are so soft (and some are quite sticky as well) that they would come off the bullets and gum up the whole works. Even in my match shooting days, with the demand for ammunition that required, saw me loading on the single stage. I just find it very relaxing - kind of an escape if you will. As such, I'm never in a hurry to see how much I can crank out.

You know Mr. Higgins, when 'hobbies' get in the way of basic home maintenance... Well, you really need to buy a sports car to know what I mean.
And yes, I was wondering about that lack of sight in my right eye. Won't keep looking down that dark cylinder thing in the future. |
Keeps u outa the bars and outa trouble....

Reloading
Currently these:
32 Colt New Police aka 32 S&W 32 ACP 32-20 9mm Luger 9mm Browning Long 38 ACP 38 Super 38 Colt short and Long 38 S&W 38 Special 41 Long Colt 45 ACP 45 ACP Shotshells 45 Colt .223 7.62 x 39 50-70 Winchester Previously these: 6mm Lee Navy 30-40 Krag 30-06 .308 Winchester .303 British and Probably some others that I have forgotten! |
I didn't want to become obsessive about reloading  but I went to buy some Hornady .223 40 grain V-max Hornady Manufacturing Company :: Ammunition :: Rifle :: Choose by Caliber :: 223 Rem :: 223 Rem 40 gr V-MAX™ ammo and they said NO. It's still unavailable because of the American ammo shortage.
So I may have to start reloading for the .223 because I just can't buy what I want. The annoying thing is I hardly ever shoot this gun. |
Bill - found the 55gr v-max - Bullets.com
grafs.com also has it (for a little cheaper). both places are cheap on shipping |
