The Highlander isn't. But, she is pleased: she has loved the 4Runner since the day I drove it back from Kansas and has wanted it back. We took the SL 560 for a ride this afternoon, she drove She got cut off by a knucklehead. She turns to me and says, "If I am in the 4Runner I chase that D-Bag down". True story. I'm working Plan B, or perhaps C. |
Year/Make/Model: 2007 Nissan Xterra Off Road
Transmission type: Automatic Hwy/City Driving Environment %: City 95% Current Mileage: 66k Miles driven weekly: 110 Average MPG: 14 How long have you been using this DD: 6 Years Reliability - scale of 1 to 10: 10 Repairs during ownership: I hit someone... Then a month later my wife hit someone... Nothing mechanical. I did upgrade the front brakes and had the front windows tinted to match the back also added the step rail. General Comments (if any): This is the best car I have ever owned. I am tall and nothing ever feels right. This truck is unstoppable. Hill decent control, lockable rear dif etc... Would you recommend this to others as a DD (1 to 10 scale; 10 being highly recommended)?: Always do. 10 http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393195085.jpg |

Yes the !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! buttom on my computer is getting stuck and the unit needs to be cleaned, thus sometimes I will go with it. I see that you are one of the generation that can't seem to draft a complete sentence!!! And you rarely can form a thought for a second sentence, let alone an entire paragraph! Your attention span must be very short, and I bet I could guess a whole lot more about you! Hey put a period on your sentence next time, so we know you are done!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Year/Make/Model: 1992 Audi 100 (FWD - non-quattro)
Transmission type: Automatic Hwy/City Driving Environment %: 50/50 Current Mileage: 211k Miles driven weekly: ~100 (used to be a lot more) and is the "go-to" family road-trip car Average MPG: 23 How long have you been using this DD: 16 Years (purchased used in '98) Reliability - scale of 1 to 10: 9.5 Repairs during ownership: Standard maintenance (which you just can't put off on one of these) - brakes, coolant hoses and pump, timing belt/idlers, plugs, air/fuel filters, trans filter/fluid change, new struts, tires, etc. I've done all the work myself except for strut replacement and subsequent alignment. Have only had a handful of non-maintenance issues: Leaking power-steering pump at ~180k, popped stuck pressure relief valve in cylinder head ~130k, suddenly dead fuel pump at ~100k, stuck EGR valve (carboned up) at ~88k, etc. General Comments (if any): Most reliable car I have ever owned. Great cruiser and very comfortable. I used to be able to get 30+mpg travelling the PNW cruising at 70-75mph before all the ethanol got in the fuel. Would you recommend this to others as a DD (1 to 10 scale; 10 being highly recommended)?: To pick one up today? 3. I think there are very few Audi's of this vintage/condition left that have been well-maintained. My wife's DD is a newer A6 Avant and it just doesn't compare for reliability and "solidness". |
For weekly driving, school runs and work we have a 2004 Ford Focus, 2ltr petrol, owned it for 6yrs and we have driven all over Europe in it on family holidays from where the beautiful, rich people live in Monaco to the darkest corners of rural Transylvania, Romania
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393200493.jpg We also have a 1994 Toyota 4 Runner 3ltr turbo diesel, great truck, gets me to where I want go no matter how bad the weather is, I'm sure it could take me overland to Vietnam or South Africa as easily as it takes me to the shops (one day I'm going to test that theory out), best all round practical car I have ever owned, this one I will keep forever http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1393200732.jpg |

2001 Audi TT. To be honest, didn't know what to expect from this, but two years and 30,000kms, it's been the most reliable, fun car I've owned. Good all year, once the snow flies it's an absolute riot. Easiest car in the world to take sideways, yet completely liveable everyday. Plus, it'll take a half dozen eight foot sections of 2x6 and still can close the hatch. For $500, I'm boosting hp from 225 to 260, and torque from 207 to 287 ft-lb. Should be fun. |

Year/Make/Model: 2006 Lotus Elise
Transmission type: 6 spd Hwy/City Driving Environment %: 40/60 Current Mileage: 60,000 Miles driven weekly: 100 Average MPG: 22-24 city... 28-30 hwy How long have you been using this DD: 2 years Reliability - scale of 1 to 10: when I first purchased it, a 5. But after I had everything put proper, it has been a 10/10 for nearly 2 years. Repairs during ownership: My first two months of ownership involved having Lotus replace the entire engine, oil cooler system. If you ever saw the big autoblog reports on Elise and Exige recalls due to oil line/oiling problems... that was because of me. General Comments (if any): I scoff at people who own similar cars who use them only as weekend toys. I have driven this thing through thick and thin and I make it work. It is such a pure transportation machine. No electronic aids, no radio to distract, no real safety. It's a motorcycle that has a bit of protection from the elements. For me, it's a 10. It goes A to B in the best way possible. No frills, nothing extra. I live 'light' and never carry lots of luggage. If I need a piece of furniture or something, I trade the car for a friend's truck or I get things delivered. I don't want or need another car. My only downside is that I do not take it into SF city, because I am scared to park it and leave it out of my sight, mainly due to the fear that I'll wind up with a bucket of paint dumped on it during some 'Occupy' style demonstration, or some girl in a kia will back into it while parking and total it. It isn't a car I trust other people around. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1402937880.jpg |
