We have the same in Az for some time now....no changes in stats at all....it seems citizens can be trusted. Fancy that.
The criminals didn't wait for this opening.

It will be interesting to see how Idaho fares compared to California going forward. Were I a betting man, my money would be on Idaho lowering crime rates while California continues to increase unabated.

Couldn't agree more.

Wow, you must have some good connections!

Seriously, I've hear those are nearly impossible to obtain. Any details on the hoops you had to jump through to get it?

Orange County is prudent.

Small biz owner that transports 30k worth of goods around plus I have a handicapped wife. it takes 15 minutes to get her in and out of a car. We're sitting targets.

I'm going to get blasted here. I believe that there should be testing and vetting before you can be endorsed to carry.

I see your point of view, however if we were to go that far they should be vetted when they buy the spoon. nip that pesky problem in the butt. Even then I bet we'll see a lot less firearm suicides and other firearm related "accidents".

As towards no permits to conceal or open. I think it's a good idea. There's still limits to where you cannot carry without a CCW (likes schools/Bars/ etc). But no loop holes to jump through. It's your constitutional right. Arizona is still the wild west.
I feel safer when I go out with my spoon, and especially when I see other with their spoons. It's a deterrent.

And they have less to loose. Every bullet that you send off can ruin your life.

I thought the CCW classes given prior to the law change were actually pretty good....a good thing.
You are correct, if you ever have to use your piece you better be technically proficient (collateral damage) and have your ducks in order supporting that use.

OTOH, we've not noticed any uptick in issues in Az that I'm aware of....I think most get the danger involved with a CC.

I guess I am presumptive.
One would think anyone would know- NOT to EVER draw and level without the intent to pull the trigger.
Playing a bluff with a firearm is how to get it used on the owner.

THere's a lot more to it than that. And, from what I understand, at least in some places, it's actually not illegal to stop a situation with a show of force, but brandishing is usually illegal, so I think that's a very thin line.

If someone is about to mug you with a knife, and you pull your gun and point it at him, and he runs and you don't shoot him, that's perfectly legal. Having heated words with someone and displaying your gun to back up your comments that you're a bad-arse, not legal. Getting mad at some jack-hole on the freeway and laying your gun on the dash so he knows that he shouldn't mess with you, not legal.

There are probably lots of situations that most folks would not think of without the benefit of a class. I'm happy to have gone to the class in TX. It's almost entirely about law and situations and making sure you think about and understand the possible impact of your actions. I think it was a good thing.

It varies by county. In stanislaus the sheriff Adam Christianson is a good one. For awhile at least it only required a course and background check. He asked me if I was going to get mine when he came by my shop. I told him no. There are some wierd things that go along with a cc. Such as if your arguing with your wife and the police come out they already know you have a gun. And if they have any reason to think things might get worse once they leave, they can cease your firearm. Then you have to deal with getting it back. There is some other strange senerios I don't care to witness.

Ah, so then are the CCW permits issued only valid in their respective jurisdictions/counties, or a are they recognized state-wide regardless of where they where issued? If no to the latter, does a state-wide CCW permit for CA exist?
