Share a good (old) movie you saw recently...

One of my favorites - "About Schmidt" w/ Jack Nicholson (warning: full frontal of Kathy Bates)

Available on Youtube...

Captain Phillips.
Even though you know the outcome, after about the first 15 minutes, it keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Edit, sorry, did not see the Old in the title.
for an older one, Second Hand Lions.

Once Upon A Time In The West. In fact, I rented the DVD so I could get the full directors cut. I got tired of having it interrupted by commercials and bad editing.

I had heard a story that the producers didn't think Henry Fonda would be a good fit in this movie - the thought was it would (a) ruin his career and (b) he wasn't enough of a badass!

Don't know if it's true, but it's a good story. He's definitely a badass and his career sure didn't suffer!

But I would see About Schmidt again in a heartbeat. A classic.

The Princess Bride.

I watched that not long ago. Pretty funny and strange entertaining story.

No recently, but still very memorable: "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly". I got the DVD. This version seems to be a director's cut. Must be 3 hours long. It moves deliberately but always keeps the tension way high without interruption. Phantastic sets and no digital embellishments.

While the movie is good, the book is sooo much better, brilliant, really. Written by William Goldman, it is spellbinding in ways a movie simply can't.

Goldman is the standard.

Chinatown.
